swgb, that's just a ridiculous statement. This board has talked the talking points to death. Right now, it's not reform, it's a plan that is forcing ideals on many Americans who are are screaming, 'NO!' Why are 37 states prepared to sue the US Gov't for passing such a bill if it weren't something taking rights away from you?
I have on many occasions suggested starting within the legal system for reform, then pharma. I discuss such items with people who can discuss. I am absolutely for everyone having medical care. I am not for having it shoved down my throat and forcing me to pay for people who make other choices and do not take care of their bodies; yep, inclusive of disease management. This should include accountability and responsibility, which this bill does not. We do not need this to be an entitlement, which is exactly what it is. This bill will damage more small and medium sized businesses. It will stall this recovery and prolong the imminent inflation glaring at us right now.
I just hope this bill isn't passed and that they don't 'deem' it passed. A poor win, IMO. We need reform, not this bill.
Let me apologize for not being clear, that was not directed at you, you was used as a third person in that case.
Again the vast majority of people against this are of that opinion due to a lack of understanding it. The insurance industry, GOP, and teabaggers have all worked very hard to put misconceptions and fear into peoples minds.
I'm assuming that you have read the bill and that is where you are drawing your conclusions from?
Groovy. No, I haven't read it. Have you? Nor have I based my opinion on the insurance industry lobbying, GOP or Teabaggers. Right now, our politicians NEED to listen to the American People.

 Please! Did you read the bill? You mean the American People who haven't read the bill?
And why is that capitalized - is this a new upbeat singing group? Doesn't everybody miss Up with People? Don't you think we need them again? I see a big following for an UWP/Palin tour.
Edit: Oops, never mind, UWP encourages a global perspective now and wants members to be bridge builders:

I did read the Senate bill, which this basically is. That bill has been sitting there since December, so I think all members of Congress have had time to read and digest it. If they can't read, they each have staff members to read and summarize the bill, but since Congress is heavily populated with lawyers, I think they can probably understand it.
Yes, it's 1000 pages, but it's in legal form, so it probably actually has fewer words than a Harlequin romance.
I read four or five different summaries today, all of which agreed on the main points.
And I wouldn't call something rushed that has been on the front pages, been discussed in Town Hall meetings and been analyzed comprehensively by all of the affected professional organizations for the last 12 months.
