Do you drive a car? Do you heat your home? Do you use electricity? Anything in your home made of plastic? Ever use fertilizer - or has any of the food you eat ever been enhanced with fertilizer? Got a kid - ever used vaseline or Vicks?
Sure you have! Guess what, all are derived from oil and gas. Want rigs in the Gulf of Mexico? Me neither, but you know what - Mother Nature put oil and gas in the ground where she wanted it, not a choice for you and I.
Gulf of Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado, Pennsylvania - none of the folks in these places seem to want oil and gas drilling. OK, then let's just pay the Middle East for our oil and gas. Ask the families of our brave soldiers how that is working out...
Coal? Largest carbon producer of any of our current energy sources. Nuclear? You probably don't want that in SoWal either, rightr? Wind? Truly not feasible on a large scale. Solar? Same thing...
Bottom line. If you want relatively cheap and clean oil and gas as the energy source for a bridge fuel to the next century when technology will finally (I hope) render fusion and hydrogen as the ultimate fuel source, we all have to make some sacrifices on where it is produced.
Do you drive a car?
(the question here is what cars are we driving?) Do you heat your home?
(the question here is HOW do you heat your home?) Do you use electricity?
(the question here is what are you doing to conserve energy in your home and office and stores and businesses?) Anything in your home made of plastic?
(the question here is do you recycle plastic? Do you consider buying things with less packaging? Do you bring your bags with you shopping or refuse a bag?) Ever use fertilizer - or has any of the food you eat ever been enhanced with fertilizer?
(the question here is do you buy local? Are you part of a garden community?) Got a kid - ever used vaseline or Vicks?
(we would have oil for things like Vicks and lubricants, etc.... but not if we DRILL IT ALL OUT - it is NOT a renewable resource!!)

(blame the woman! lol - and what is to happen when all of the oil is used? Hmmmm??)
Gulf of Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado, Pennsylvania - none of the folks in these places seem to want oil and gas drilling. OK, then let's just pay the Middle East for our oil and gas.
(let's find ways to CONSERVE! And we get most of our oil from Canada) Ask the families of our brave soldiers how that is working out...

(I call BS on your statement on solar. I am currently selling energy BACK to Chelco - our meter runs BACKWARDS using solar)
Bottom line. If you want relatively cheap
(not necessarily do I think that CHEAP oil is in our best interest) and clean oil and gas as the energy source for a bridge fuel to the next century when technology will finally (I hope) render fusion and hydrogen as the ultimate fuel source, we all have to make some sacrifices on where it is produced
.(let's make "sacrifices" now - by doing the above mentioned conservation practices and treating oil like it is - something that ain't gonna be around for long!)
Now my question to you, south of 30A and others who are proponents of drilling anywhere and everywhere, is what are YOU doing to conserve resources for future generations so that we may postpone any drilling for as long as possible in environmentally sensitive spots such as off the waters of FL?
Thanks
G
PS I usually don't take this tone, but I was just parroting back the same tone that was put out there for us anti-drillers in the first place.
And I don't mean to sound like a bragger when it comes to the solar thing - I just get so upset when I hear it can't be done or it costs too much - I am passionate that we find a way to conserve our resources that's all. Thx
