Scott talks faith, targets vulnerable

New posts
You can espouse your Christianity all day long, or you could just demonstrate it in your actions. Scott seems to prefer the former.

These things are for all people, particularly christians to do. Not the government. God expects each of us to help each other with what we have, not steal it from someone else to give away. Confiscating my money through taxes to give to someone else is stealing.

Where does it say this is particularly for christians to do. I read it as a responibility and duty for all of society to have compassion and provide some care for those less fortunate. I won't comment on your last sentence, it speaks for itself.

It is pretty easy to be a "christian" with someone else's money. Showing concern for the next generation by making tough choices is a little more difficult.

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

It says "promote" not "provide." The government's role is to enable a climate where people can succeed, not take money from one person to give it to another.

What's your point? Scott is doing just that. He made his money stealing from the tax payers and now he's completely ignoring the future of the next generation by slashing education and fighting health care.

You are all worried about a debt, that we share concern with, but that won't matter one bit when you have sick people who don't know what numbers are.

Well put SWGB!

Unfortunately my opinion did not count as much as yours. . I made a statement that I believe is true, I also did not bash Governor Scott for what he is doing. I did not even say he was or wasn't a Christian, and have said nothing about separation of church or state. I believe my comments are as valid as yours and really you do not want to even get me started on family taking care of their own because I have some insight into that that many don't, which there is a monumental waste of taxpayer money. So if you would please reread what I have posted before you attack me with your opinions about the role of the Church in society its failures and governments responsibility to those in our society that are be impacted negatively.
Thank You

Who said it was the church's job? They are supposed to assist the needy, but if we are following the Bible, then it is the family that is to take care of the sick and needy. Certainly it is not the government, talk about a history of abject failure. All government handouts do is subjugate the next generation.

All the liberals scream about is seperation of church and state and then you go and criticize the man because he is not following the Bible! He cannot win because you will tar and feather him if he says he IS following the Bible on anything. At least be consistent.
