13,000 protest Governor's plan to change collective bargaining for public employees

I disagree, but that's arguable.

Never on the Sowal message board have I seen a statement that was so misguided and incorrect. Our basic human rights have never been based on the will of the people. I don't feel it's necessary for me to cite numerous historical examples in this country in which the will of the people allowed for severe and cruel violations of basic civil rights.

government of the people, by the people, for the people

The only basic rights I consider are those afforded under the Bill of Rights. Your confusing what you think should be rights vs what are. If the will of the people wish to amend rights they will be added.

This isn't a monarchy. Ridiculous...it's not a basic right simply because you think it is.

30ashopper, you realize you are nothing but a rabblerouser and troublemaker. Government workers have a basic right to collectively bargain and it should not be infringed upon. I am a former public servant and had an absolute right to collective bargain...oh, wait, we didn't have collective bargaining in Oklahoma. We had an Oklahoma Public Employee's Association instead. Oh, and we had a merit system for hiring as well. Funny how those ignorant Okies seem to function much better than some of those elite cheeseheads in Wisconsin, isn't it? And I don't see any riots in the streets, either. I hope Florida follows Oklahoma's example and not Wisconsin's.

This liberal was busy being pissed about property damage.

And publicizing idiotic acts like this to get ratings just encourages this kind of behavior.

Publicizing Sarah Palins website with the targets promoted the same behavior? Where was this statement then? You're flip flopping when it's convenient.

I'm sorry but your knowledge of the constitution and our form of government is woefully inadequate. The constitution and the bill of rights have nothing to do with the will of the people One of the purposes of our constitution is to protect against the tyranny of the majority. The US Supreme court often makes rulings that are overwhelmingly unpopular. The Westboro Baptist Church ruling is a recent example. We are a constitutional republic with democratically elected officials. These officials are not permitted to enact laws simply because they have popular support. If these laws are shown to be unconstituional, then they can be overruled regardless of their popularity. Come on now, surely I don't have to cite examples from our nation's checkered past in order to make my point. I would hope that your knowledge of history is better than you seem to indicate.

It isn't called flip-flopping when you have the same consistent opinion.

Wackadoos shouldn't get lots of media attention when they make threats - because it encourages more wackadoos. Media outlets show their communications/videos to garner ratings and it fuels the idiocy. I say that in every situation like this. Find the Virginia Tech thread and I'll have posted the same thing.

Never have I said threatening violence against elected officials was acceptable. That was the whole point of that Palin kerfuffle.

Authoritarian types tend to surrender to authoritarianism. It's a vicious cycle that feeds on itself. I think that describes OK in a nutshell.

I blame anyone who uses violence and hysteria to fuel their political agenda.

Hurting politicians (or anyone else) and causing property damage is not the way to do things.

My biggest fear is that if this is what is happening in laid back Wisconsin, can you imagine what will happen when it hit's another State like say Florida?
