There' no doubt that she mangled a lot of the story, but according to this letter from Paul Revere at the Mass Historical Society he did warn the British that the Americans were alerted.

When I got there, out Started Six officers, on Horse back,
and orderd me to dismount;-one of them, who appeared
to have the command, examined me, where I came from,
& what my Name Was? I told him. it was Revere, he as-
ked if it was Paul? I told him yes [STRIKE]He asked me if
I was an express?[/STRIKE] I answered in the afirmative. He
demanded what time I left Boston? I told him; and
aded, that their troops had catched aground in passing the River,
and that There would be five hundred Americans there
in a short time, for I had alarmed the Country all the way up
.

Its unclear to me what part (if any) of that was false.

This is for you from post #16

People trying to "spin" or rewrite major events in our history to defend Palin's massive idiocy is appalling.

Palin couldn't get any of the major details right immediately after hearing them presented at a level intended for school children - complete with illustrations, props, and a famous catchy poem.

No gotcha, no surprises, just her normal idiocy and incompetence.

The fact is, her grasp of history is probably comparable to the average American's. The only thing that saved us from true illiteracy was schoolhouse rock:lol::lol:

Skunky, can't believe this story broke even as a friend a mine posted this on his facebook page.
"Another fun filled day in Louisville grading AP exams. I have read some good historical essays and have read many, many, many creative(fictional) accounts, including one who quoted those noted historians, the Black Eyed Peas!!"

Maybe Palin took the same class those kids did.

please listen again to the way she expresses herself...at every turn. she could not sound any more ignorant and always blames the "lamestream media" on her stupid responses. take a gander at what she had to do to get her bachelor's degree. while i give her credit for completing it, her journey there is unreal. she is not presidential material. my husband, who never says much about politics, is absolutely astounded that anyone could support her.

Supposedly Palin supporters are editing her Wikipedia page so that her version of the Paul Revere ride is 'accurate.'

Palin: ‘We Must Never Forget the Wisdom of Jefferson, and his Wife, Weezy’

Former Gov. Gives History Lesson

palin4.jpg
MONTICELLO (The Borowitz Report) – Visiting Thomas Jefferson’s historic home, Monticello, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today paid tribute to the nation’s third President, telling an audience of supporters, “We must never forget the wisdom of Jefferson, and his wife, Weezy.”

Gov. Palin said that “at a time of our history when the American people needed leadership, it was Jefferson who said the immortal words, ‘We’re movin’ on up.’”

The former Alaska Governor, criticized in recent days over her grasp of American history, used the Monticello speech to demonstrate her knowledge of the country’s founding fathers.

“Let us have the ingenuity of Benjamin Franklin, who invented the electric chair,” she said.

“Let us have the honesty of George Washington, who told his father that he chopped down a cherry tree because it was blocking his view of Russia,” she added. “And let us have Washington’s perseverance, which he demonstrated during that harsh winter at Sweet Valley High.”

But she saved her most fulsome praise for her favorite American hero, Paul Revere: “In his famous cry, ‘One if by land, two if by sea,’ Paul Revere proved that you don’t have to know how to count higher than two to be a great American.”

At the end of her speech in Monticello, Gov. Palin said that she was looking forward to the next stop on her bus tour, Philadelphia, “the home of the Taco Bell.”

We're having a colorful discussion about what Sarah may or may not have said about what Paul Revere may or may not have said way over 200 hundred years ago. I'd kinda would like to know what Ms. Palin would do to improve the economy, end the wars in the middle east, engage in the search for clean renewable energy sources, dismantle the Wall Street Mafia, and put an end to the military-industrial complex. Can she help us on those things?
