A quick comment on the NRA, whose solution to gun violence in the schools is to arm all the teachers. Just how in the world are all these teachers suppose to secure these guns, and have them ready to use, at a moment's notice, without them being available, at a moment's notice, to the children? Does it make you feel better to know there are fifty to a hundred more guns in your child's school? Really?

A discerning debater might see a difference between "people die every day" and "thousands of people are needlessly murdered by gunfire everyday". The government has had a long history of legislating laws that curb stupidity. Car registration, driver's licenses, alcohol consumption by minors are just a few. Seat belts laws, a war on cigarette smoking, the Clean Air and Water act seem like a few other laws that seem to help us all live a healthier life. What's the matter with a few more regulations that try to curb the amount of lethal lead projectiles spewed at people on a daily basis?

Just because it's a difficult problem, doesn't mean we can't ratchet back the insanity just a notch or two.

We are all going to die sometime anyway. In the grand scheme of things, does it make any difference whether your insides are unexpectedly blown out in a crowded theater or whether you die peacefully of natural causes surrounded by loved ones under the influence of your favorite prescription drugs?:scratch:

Personally, I think it is utmost importance not to be filled with lead so that I can continue to debate important topical issues with my usual insights an witticisms. Other than that, I'll take prescription drugs any day(and every day) instead of lead.
