A word or two for aviation enthusiasts. There are two great aviation and military museums in the area. The armament museum at Eglin and, as previously mentioned, the Naval Aviation museum at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola. Both are great places to browse and are well worth the small effort to get there. If you go to the Naval museum be sure and take the tour with a retired Naval aviator. The stories he will tell you are as interesting, or more so, than the exhibits are.

Ecofina? Also silly question but where are the springs in defuniak?

I was driving to Tampa yesterday down 19 and crossed over the Ecofina south of Perry. I was a little surprised, on the map that part of the state looks pretty desolate down to Hommossasa, but actually quite a few towns the whole way. FYI take 10 to 75 to Tampa, much faster.

There must be two (or more) Ecofinas. The one I know, but haven't been to, in many moons, crosses highway 20 somewhere between Freeport and Blountstown. Keep looking...

The river actually goes all the way over to 221 and the conservation area is between 98 and runs northeast to 19. The area you're talking about i think is off of 77 and 20. Real neat old bridge that crosses 20 right there.

Sounds like you're a chip off the old Kit Carson: a trail-blazing explorer if a ever saw one. Don't forget to go to the "Worm Grunting Festival"... It's in either Wewahitcha or Sopchoppy, I forget.

Pensacola Lighthouse is nice to visit. We liked St. George Island also. Went up in the lighthouse there. Talking about a fantastic view. Dauphin Island in Alabama is nice to visit. Has a Audubon Bird Sanctuary with a boardwalk out to the beach. You can also catch the ferry there across to Fort Morgan. And Bellingrath Gardens at Theodore, AL is a nice place to see, we've been there.

Econfina springs is great, easier to find if you spell it correctly. While not always clear, the springs that branch off of it are.

If you are looking for additional springs check out Wakulla Springs over in Wakulla county.

I have to brush up on my Creek, spellcheck was fresh out of suggestions. Fortunately Wikipedia came to the rescue.
