As the author of the beginning of the thread, I have since become unemployed. I am the sole caretaker of an elderly parent so my safety is a priority. When I saw our state and county close ranks I felt buoyed by this action. Even though there was still a sense of foreboding, in our small area, the locals were able to go outside, use the bike path and gaze at the beach for a moment of respite from the news. Now again, I am feeling a high degree of uncertainty about maintaining health and safety, income, sanity from the tourists while at Publix (even though obviously I know businesses here are welcoming the income) all the while watching the positive cases rising. Where do we go from here? I am watching our officials try to make decisions...meanwhile, I'm choosing to maintain my isolation. What about you?
Hello SeaFern,
Since mid March I have had the opportunity to work 4 times. The stimulus paid for one BCBS medical bill. I’m grateful but I don’t understand how that helped much at all? Many of us are still in the same boat. My parents caught the virus and survived but will never be the same due to complications from the virus. I try to get outside a little but still maintain a comfortable distance and try to avoid entering enclosed areas or buildings without a mask. I’m not a Democratic or Republican and don’t see masks as a political issue as many people do. I’m curious as too the number of cases we’ll see in a few weeks to our locals in the service industry? Also with the craziness of what’s happening during this pandemic in so many major cities in our country. Yesterday some of my family members in Santa Monica were very frightened because the riots were more than close to their homes. My eyes are open and this pandemic has changed my views in many ways. Please stay safe
