My family had a scare last week with one immune-compromised member getting a severe illness. He immediately got tested for Covid, both the quick test at Doc Smiley's and the PCR test at the county health office. The quick test was Neg, but with only 50% accuracy, it left us awaiting the PCR results for another 4 days. We were relieved and grateful when the PCR test finally came back negative. Thinking that I had inadvertently exposed my high risk elderly mother was gut-wrenching. The stress and uncertainty, living for days isolating within our own home, made the pandemic and possible consequences real for me. Wearing a mask and social distancing is a trivial sacrifice for family, friends and strangers. I have renewed compassion for all who have gone through this or lost someone. It is a virus, it is not political.
