To me, the absolute worst part of adulthood was to be forced to wear patent leather shoes in far too many situations. It is absolutely a major step forward in civilization to be able to wear rubber soul (pun intended) shoes when you friggin' feel like it.

Imo with maturity comes wisdom and wearing good comfy shoes. So glad it's a trend for every age and setting. Helen Mirren is one of those trendsetters as she arrived at Cannes in a dress and sneakers.
