Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you know that in the most recent October edition of the Emerald Coast Magazine I have an article out entitled 'Adventures of a Single Dad'.

I was asked to do the article for the 'Humor Me' section of the magazine. The article was inspired from a visit I had from my kids and I mixed in a little hyperbole. I sincerely hope you enjoy it.

You can also view it online at www.emeraldcoastmagazine.com

It's a great magazine and I am honored to be associated with the publication. Again, I miss the coast and miss checking in here on sowal. Currently I'm still in Texas working the storm 7 days a week 12 hours a day.

Best wishes to everyone and miss ya.

What page is your article on, Mike? You are talking about the Oct/Nov Issue. My picture is in there and I have a quote in an article, too. I like how they include the entire area from Pensacola to Apalachicola as the Emerald Coast, as it has been known by many for years.

Thanks for the kind words. I love my kiddies more than any-any thing. I am just able to get online and check and was glad to see some feedback. I actually had a female tell me today that she cried when she finished my book because it was over. But that's another story...

Regarding my work in Texas, I am doing Inside Adjusting for Allstate right now. I worked as an Outside Field Adjuster following Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana for Allstate. The money is tremendous, but the workload is also.

This is my first experience with working 'inside' for them and while it does not pay as well, it is still well over 5 figures a month. But there is no guarantee how long your stint will be. I know of several people who quit their jobs to do this and after 5 days they were 'released' from the storm- no job. I started September 1st.

Anyway, I've been told my last day is Friday, but we shall see. I have been a good employee and although more long term jobs seem to be given for 'other' reasons, who knows, maybe I'll find a way to stick around longer. I've kept my rental in Seagrove but it does hurt to pay a monthly rent, building no equity, while not even being there. Then there are hotel expenses, fine dining. Oh, and the 7 days a week from 7 to 7.

But perhaps I can shower my kids with something special like a ski vacation or invest in something for their future.

Well, I'm sure you can tell from my rambling that I don't have much interaction away from work. Sure wish I did. I talk to God more than anything, especially when I have to wake up in the morning. :D

Shelly is absolutely correct once again. Our kids are all grown up and my Wife and I moved 1,700 miles away from them to start over and now we miss them like crazy. Communication over the phone or email just isn't the same and they are all at that stage in life where Romane noodles is a treat. No way they can afford to come visit unless we foot the bill. :(
