Just act like you're running from the Funns! :funn:

Lucky and Jdarg, I appreciate the links, but they begin with 2 and 3 mile runs. If I ran 2 miles today, I would be out of breath and energy for the remainder of the week. I have a feeling that I need an extra 8 weeks to really do this right without injury. I am just going to take it easy and do what I can, with good rest in between. Thanks again.

What about running some 5k races? You could train for those at your own pace and the races themselves would prepare you for longer runs, leading to that half marathon.

I need some inspiration, too!

Sounds great, but I have already registered for the half marathon. I am not worried though, just trying something different. I will be lucky to bring my @ss home, much less a trophy. :D

You will probably have the largest fan base and cheering section in the race!

Sorry- too much pressure!

You might inspire some computer potato (who you looking at?) to get up and get moving!Think of the cool new running shoes you will need!
Oh, I thought he was looking at me! Whew.
And, SS, I like the way you think, girlfriend. I always say it's all about the gear!

Good luck and just take your time!
BTW, can't believe your friend did an Ironman. I love watching the stories behind the people who do that. One guy collapsed just yards from the finish line one year--awful!

I did not say that she completed it. The IronMan is one crazy course from what she tells me -- head winds coming and going, 110+ temps on through the lava fields, uphill is as much a struggle as downhill, racing at others' paces hoping the you will be able to meet the time mark so that you can continue the race, etc. She did a bit of crawling, with some crying, too. She burned out on the bike, and collapsed when she began running. After sitting there for 20 minutes contemplating what the heck she was doing there at IronMan, she stood up and began walking, which eventually turned into a jog. She made it about 17 miles, and collapsed again, and crawled for a short distance, and cried for a long time. This is a young mother of two who had never swam a day in her life until she saw the IronMan on TV one day. It was then that she set her mind to race IronMan, and within two years, she had qualified. I should note that she was already a runner, but had not been on a bike for ten years. She is a real go getter, and I am very proud of her. She cheered me on from afar when I took on a big challenge of my own a few years ago.

My other friend has some qualifier triathalons coming up next year, including the one in PC in the spring, which is a huge one. I may do some bike training with her, but I don't think I will be running with her.
