What fun! We will be bringing grandchildren down next week for the last family trip of the summer. This might be a good time to try fishing the bay. Am not familiar with the bay, so would appreciate any pointers as to good access points, etc. Would rental of boat ensure a more successful fishing expedition, or can it be achieved from a public access?

Hi BeachBebe, There was a really good discussion thread (or two) recently about fishing the bay and alternative ideas to beach fishing/swimming, I'll try to find them and 'bump' them up for you to review. Have a great time!![]()

Cool, ChillPill. Caught one off my dock at Lady's Is. a few years ago and was also surprised, shocked and thrilled. Was just getting to dive in and thought, "Mama Shark is close by, I bet." The deltas are not shark free, it seems.
Not trying to start an argument, but that is more likely a bull shark than a black tip, IMO. Juvenile bulls have black edging on their fins which fade as they get older. Bulls are fairly common in the Choctawhatchee and surrounding bayous.
I just repeated that it was a black tip because the local fishermen that were here identified it as that.
