Apparantly not. Sorry, I couldn't resist. ;-)

I have paid $80 for a rental 'turnover' cleaning for 2 BR, 2.5 Bath townhouse. :idontno: I think the point of lots of cleaners is to get in and get out, after cleaning of course. ;-) Would guess that would come out to be about $30/hr. for around 2.5 hrs. Wow, that's better than what I made as an RN. No wonder, I'm cleanin' my townhouse myself.

I have been cleaning rentals, part time, for about 6 yrs. I charge $65 to $115 depending on the size (bedrooms and baths) of the unit, and how much glass there is to clean. I do the laundry either at the unit or my home, so those costs have to be figured in as well as transportation and cleaning supplies.

Also, if cleaning rentals only, you have to factor in that they have to get the rentals done within a 3-4 hr time frame and it is usually done only on 1 or 2 days a week.

It is hard work, and there are no benefits, pensions, 401k's!

p.s.
I do NOT clean occupied homes.. ..done that for my own for too many years!
I would have to charge alot more!

It is very hard work. I just had to scrub dried up puke off the commode. :puke: Guess it coulda been a lot worse. :puke::puke:
It's truly amazing how dirty a vacation rental place could get in one week.

People often think it is expensive, but giving what the duties entail, I find the pay to be low. Thinking about the actions of many rentors at vacation spots, and considering the high number of people often renting a house, I am not surprised at all that you were left cleaning someone else's puke. Try doing that for 10 hours a day, a few days a week. Thanks, but no thanks. I cannot imagine all of the crap those hard-working people have to clean. Sure, there are people like me who clean up after myself when staying in someone's home, but even if that is 50% of the people who rent, that is still a lot of puke and crap to clean.

We pay $85 to $200 depending on the size of the rental property that we manage and they earn every penny of it as it IS hard work.
Burnout rate is high.

$125.00-$250.00....no less
Complaints......Filthy bathrooms, refrigerators, vomit and Loads of sand brought in a unit/house to make sand castles. :idontno:

Success....people who respect and care...$ tips, notes of thanks.

For some reason I want to think homes should be less, but then again it depends on what the condition is and how many room/bathrooms.

I agree 100% on hard work....so let us talk about burnout? is it fair for the price to be this high overall and then watch quality go downhill? And do you as a employer have to factor in travel time for the employee? what about cleaning materials.....do they supply and does the rate stay the same or do you supply and that rate goes down?

I think that the quality should only be a factor once. If the unit is not cleaned to YOUR satisfaction, you dont use them again. And no you shouldnt have to worry about travel time if you a paying on a unit basis. Also most of the time if paying on a unit basis, the person brings their own supplies. Unless the homeowner has a preference and keeps it there in the unit. As for an occupied home, this is a tough one due to the fact of individual personalities and whether or not the person you are cleaning for thinks that you are there to do their bidding with no set duties, for an indeterminate time every day. (think "on-call maid' that does not have set hours, and that price goes up dramatically.)
