Are all you ATLeins doing ok?

Cold enough for ya? Huh? A little taste of what I deal with ALL WINTER!

Seriously...what's up with the weather down there? Y'all ok?

Well, it's so cold that even though my daughter lives at the sorority house on the Tech campus, she drove to her exam today and risked getting a ticket for parking illegally in order to minimize her time outside. And I approve - no way I'd walk that far in the wet and cold weather, so I wouldn't want my daughter to, especially since she has a bad cold.

It is cold...When I was younger I loved any kind of winter precip...ice especially because it got us out of school, but now it is just a major nuisance. I really wish today's event would have been snow, that would have made for some nice photographs with the Christmas decorations. Well 10 minutes till the Apprentice, I hope Rebecca wins, but I have this strange hunch that says he will hire them both.

It's great until you get stuck in it.
It's supposed to "mix" here today...gross. And tomorrow morning the MTA is going to strike so we have to be at work early. Gross! It takes a lot to shut the city down.

But wasn't there an ice storm?

I've seen far worse. It was nasty and I hate cold but I was able to be out and about and get all my errands run. My "freeze protect" has not kicked in on our pool so far tonihg and it is actually warming up. So far so good. No power outages and the beer and chips have held out so far! All in all, could've been far worse. We dodged a big bullet on this one!

The ice storm was for the most part on the trees and power lines not much to speak of on the streets. Power outages were minimal!

My daughter said that some trees were down, her car was iced over, and a friend couldn't open her car door because the doors were frozen shut. Oh, and she said that she got knocked in the head by a big piece of ice that fell off a classroom building as she was entering it to take an exam. But from what I know, it really doesn't qualify as an ice "storm."

Bitter cold for the past few days and rain late yesterday iced everything up her in Cold'lanta. The trees, powerlines and anything off the ground iced real bad but the ground and roads were just wet. 100,000 people without power most of the day but mostly in the northeast suburbs up I-85 and towards the Athens area. Don't worry northerners they say that this ice/winter storm is coming up the eastcoast.

Stay warm and safe if it comes your way. If this keeps up (the cold), we may swing down to Seagrove for the days between Christmas and New Years!!! Pool heater should be up and running by then :idontno:

Nasty weather all around. Merman spent the day in Newport News, Virginia, on business and he just called from the airport. The plane he was to have gotten on--coming from Philadelphia--was delayed over 2 hours. And nearly every other plane that he could have caught to Indy was delayed or overbooked, so the poor baby won't be home until midnight. :( There's a lot of ice up and down the Eastern seaboard and it's wreaking havoc with the planes and runways.

I am glad things have warmed up for some of y'all! Oh Mermaid, I know this makes you skeery! I am so glad Mr. K has finished traveling for the year...he is just stuck in his office now!

Hey Wetwilly! How are you doing? We haven't seen much of you lately. How are things going with you? It's good that you might be in SoWal over the holidays--though maybe you might not have wanted to mention the hot tub! :floor: There's a bunch of us who will be down in SoWal the same time and you might find yourself hosting a pool party...watch out for those Funns!
