I quoted from the other thread so I can “spout off” here, though it doesn’t seem to stop other folks there. “Inundated” seems to really, really be overstating the situation for present circumstances here county wide. I’ll help lead the charge if things actually turn to s**t locally but why do we fan the flames? What about the numbers posted most recently indicate that we are obviously inundated? It may happen but it isn’t yet. I have no issue with the rest of the statementIt is obvious we are inundated by the virus brought by visitors. Thankfully summer season will be over soon.
Classes begin in Walton County August 10, 2020. Locals should work together to get back to the relatively safe environment we had before rentals were opened. I hope that we can all limit contact and wear masks and focus on the health of of our community.
It is going to be a challenge with kids in school. We need to be vigilant and monitor our kids and not let them go to school with symptoms.
In Winn-Dixie the other day there were shelves fully stocked with Goya products.Feeling inundated is different than being inundated and you are certainly entitled to feel how you feel, no argument from me about that. I’m thankful that it isn’t 300 a day already or 3,000. I’ll shut up about overwroughtness should that occur. I agree that people are bringing it here and also leaving with it I am sure. No traffic and food reliably on the shelves was great for me personally. I loved it
I went into PCB yesterday for several shopping errands for the first time this year. All PCB business employees are now required to wear masks. And I was glad to see that everyone else were wearing them as well with a few exceptions. This is how it should be done. However I would feel more able to get out like I did yesterday if every single person wore masks. It doesn't mean we should be out and about as if all is normal though. Because I did notice that in some situations, physical distancing was not happening or even possible. I will stick to online ordering for a while. It’s so sad that the virus has finally come to our town in an alarming way. People that I’ve known for years are testing positive. It’s mainly the people that have to make a choice between risking their lives or making an income. It’s the people that work in positions that have the most contact with tourists not to mention that I’ve seen most of them not wearing a mask ( which many masks don’t prevent breathing in the droplets ).
I’ve personally been heckled, had snide remarks, had people laughing and been given the evil eye because I have chosen to wear a mask ( N95 ). For some reason, I’ve seen more people wearing masks very recently? I wonder why? I have my opinion why the majority of people don’t wear masks in our town and that is because ( just like the hoarding of supplies in the beginning ) people are self centered and only care about themselves and not their fellow neighbors. This pandemic has changed my mind about the true nature of people. It’s sad because I wouldn’t think this way unless I didn’t see it for myself. Now ( once again ) I know what most people are made of....

In fact, if one looks further it appears that we most certainly are not being inundated by the virus from tourists at all. Homegrown makes up 90% of the cases in the county according to this. Where’s that dude that was prattling about “covariance” the other day To make sense of this? His high opinion of himself might be useful here
