Does Anyone Shop on EBay?

New posts
My sister has an Ebay store (she's a power seller) and it's a full time job for her. She sells fabric and handmade fleece items and does really well. I only buy on Ebay (so far) and I go in spurts. Will make a dozen purchases in a week and then I won't go back for months (out of necessity so I don't go broke.) Love last minute bidding (since I got Broadband, anyway) and definitely agree with whoever said not to bid early. I keep putting aside the nice clothes that my kids outgrow and tell myself I will sell them on Ebay, but I never get around to it.

I've always heard clothes sell fast too. Especially to Europeans.

I can't get over what some people get for their USED children's clothes. Personally, I like to buy new designer type clothes for my daughter - stuff I could never otherwise afford! I got on this kick last year and started buying things just because the deals were so good - but she never wore half of them (that's the stuff I really need to sell!!!!)

Do you mean like specialty clothes, like Easter or Christmas dresses that are usually only worn once or twice? That would make sense to me.

I was outbid on my Bare Escentuals! I'll try again next week.

Yep -exactly that. I got the cutest burgundy and navy pinwale corduroy sailor style dress with matching hair ribbon a few years ago. It was some boutique label (Lavender Blue?) and the tags were for more than $100 - think I got the set for less than $30. Everyone was bidding high on the Storybook Heirlooms at that time so I scoured for an alternative that no one was bidding on. Another brand that gets outrageous on Ebay is Gymboree.

I've sold my dd's past holiday dresses, dance costumes, nice name brand items like Gap, Gymboree, Limited Too etc.. It's worth it and I think it's fun too. I buy hard to find items also. Last week didn't work out too well though. Back in the fall my dd wanted a pair of converse pink velour tennis shoes. I didn't buy them at the time b/c she had ones that were fine. I went to look for them for her birthday and couldn't find them anywhere so I went to Ebay. I did a buy it now and won the auction. When they arrived they were too big for me so I knew they wouldn't fit her. Before I bid I asked the seller if they ran big or small and he said they ran small. NOT. Anyway, I learned my lesson there. I sell clothes but wouldn't buy clothes. My step-dad collects stamps and last year I bought a rare stamp for him on Ebay. he loved it. I've talked about my Dad before and how he started his business on Ebay. He now has a web-based business with a warehouse not far from me. He's been very successful in his retirement. :)

Gosh darn....just think what I could find early in the morning! How do I do this EBay thing?

First you probably need to get a Paypal account. It makes it easier to pay for your auctions and the seller gets paid right away and then they can ship your item to you faster. If you pay by check, they wait for it to clear and then ship your item. I know some people are uneasy about giving out bank acct or credit card info but this is a trustworthy company. Just remember not to give any info out to anyone who emails you and solicits you for account info. I think there's a scam out there using Paypal to get people to do this. PM me if you have any questions! I've been trying to win a iZ Zizzle all day today....don't ask. LOL

Just log on and look! But you can't touch anything tho. I like turquoise and old silver jewelry, so I look at that sometimes. You just have to play around a little.
