Fire In Blackcreek Freeport

New posts
I about wrecked my car when some jackA$$ in front of me on 30-A tossed a ciggie out the window. I pulled over and made sure it was out! This fire stuff is gonna worry me to death.

I don't blame ya one bit. I hope all the fires are contained soon! When anyone throws anything out the window I'm astounded. :pissed: It's littering folks. Not to mention catching something afire.

It is really smokey here and I can't stay out long before it irritates my throat. The smell is intense. Stay alert, friends.

I walke upstairs a little while ago, after leaving the windows and doors open all day, and my bedspread and floor was covered with ashes.

I called the number listed above for information around 4:00 yesterday. It is not recorded she was live! Very sweet lately and had fielded about 2,000 calls yesterday afternoon. She stated there were 4 fires in Walton County and at that time 2 were already put out and they were working on the other 2. She stated they did not know what had caused the fires. It was still under investigation.

She also stated that they were setting up a place for displaced family along with the Red Cross. If you know someone who has been displaced or needs help, I am sure you can call that number and find where to send them.

Channel 13 just reported that the Black Creek fire is about 85% contained. Didn't catch the PCB fire info.

I love listening to the local news people. The lady on ch 13 just reported that "no property was damaged in the Black Creek fire." 1,000 acres burned and no property was destroyed by the fire. Oops.

I think she meant that no homes were destroyed.

Hopefully, they can not only get these fires contained, but actually extinguish them.

If there is one piece of good news, dewpoints are supposed to go up later in the week, which should help prevent any new fires from starting.

For those who flick their cig butts out the window of their vehicle, please don't do it. If you must smoke in your car, put the cig out in your ashtray.

I'm glad you posted that. I heard her say it too and then thought I had misunderstood what she had said.

Channel 13 reported this am that they believe the Black Creek fire was started from lightning. It was very cloudy at our house Sunday but only sprinkled.
