I try too and am generally successful. Then occasionally I get drawn in as with this ridiculous debt ceiling nonsense. Finger pointing as if they aren’t all responsible for some arbitrary limit being exceeded. BOTH SIDES.

Serious question: How is the far left : oppressors"? I don't see how being proponents for universal health care, child care, education, increased infra-structure spending, equitable tax reform, climate change mitigation are oppressive? Being against fair and balanced elections is, and being in favor of open racism is oppressive.

i had a long answer worthy of mputnal at his most loquacious typed up for you. But it’s exhausting thinking of opening up the same round and round arguments. I’ll take poppaj’s suggestion to go sit on the sidelines. If I were going to respond to anyone here with a serious answer on these both real and made up issues it would be you. I consider you to be the closest to sane and clear thinking of the active posters here on either side.

Yes I too can site examples of BOTH SIDES, but I look at the bigger picture and refuse to allow a group of frightened rich old white men to force minority rule and their religion on this country.

Unfortunately both political parties are oppressors and abusers of power. Right now the republican party is ahead in that category and the reason why I vote against. Over spending is a serious problem. Under taxing the wealthy is a serious problem. Elite wealth is a huge inequality and both democrats and republicans are guilty. Democracy will solve these and the many other problems as we debate the issues but we have almost lost our democracy because neither "side" accepts anything from the other side. We are all guilty of this. If we don't stop the nonsense of sides then we can kiss our democracy goodbye forever...

actions speak louder than words. a person can say they can do a lot of things but then in reality they just wind up sounding like a broken record. In fact, a person does this. I’ve seen it. We all have.

This old white man has no problem with our representatives in government mirroring the ethnic/racial population of the country.
