Beach Comber
I've discovered a trend while budgeting for our trip NEXT WEEK! Two of the restaurants we're considering trying are either CASH OR CHECK ONLY (The Red Bar), or CASH ONLY (Gravel Road).

Is there any source out there that can advise how many other Sowal establishments don't take plastic.

Thanks for any and all responses.

THE COUNTDOWN TO BEACH HAS BEGUN!

There is a growing trend with alot of places around here due to increased fees that are being charged to establishments to process any card. Another that I know of is McTighes Irish Pub in BMB. Most of the places have ATMs on premises but we also have most major banks in the area if you want to avoid any ATM charges. Just dont forget to bring a checkbook and you should be ok. Out of state checks are not a problem in most cash or check only places.

Don Pedros no longer takes plastic. They take our check, but I don't know if that's because we are local or because they know ShallowsFuzz or if that's standard procedure.

What about Nick's in the Sticks, Stinky's Fish Camp, Seagrove Market, Flip Flops, Bruno's, Bud and Alley's, Goatfeathers, Basmati's and Fish Out of Water?

It is about money. Going to cash allows things to be better, uh....managed, but also if they force you to cash then have their own ATM on site they are getting a cut of the fees, making more money.

Sorry, just do not by the fees thing. I think it is more about hiding dollars and making more fees for themselves.

Sorry, just do not buy into your belief. I've eaten in many a restaurant that took cards and when I paid cash, it wasn't rung up. Probably hidden. But my point is that any restaurant can hide cash if it wants to - but no restaurant can hide it all. So why point the finger just at these particular restaurants, which are struggling to survive in a tough time? If you're worried about contributing to dishonesty, ask for a receipt.
