Okay folks here are my pictures. I just got back last night. It is a very sad place.

I have some from the 9th Ward in New Orleans and I stopped in Gulfport to take some pictures on the way home.

Landlocked's Pictures

I just went from laughing to crying in 10 seconds. Your pictures say it all. How did you make it down there without losing it?

The only thing I can say is that the people I talked to that are still there are among the strongest people I have ever met.

My brother is volunteering down there and he comes into contact with them every day. My trip down there definitely changed my outlook on the whole situation.

Before, I thought they would be insane to rebuild, but when you go there, you see why they want to. There are memories there and they don't want to lose them. It looks bad to us, but to them, they see the place they and their families grew up.

I'm kind of torn about the whole thing. I can see both sides of it now. Not sure which way is best but I wouldn't want to have to make the decision.

-My brother is being interviewed by The New Yorker and I'll let y'all know when it comes out. I think this is a sign of the apocolypse. My brother in a magazine. :floor:

Welcome home. We missed you. Where does one even begin to start the rebuilding, just devastation.

LL...those photos were stunning and sobering. I think they belong in the magazine along side the article with your bro. It really shows how the storm really damaged Mississippi more than NOLA and we hardly hear about those folks. Did you feel any progress was being made? I can't imagine seeing that and NOT being changed in some way. Glad you are home safely.

what's worse is we hardly hear about the folks in our own state who are still reeling from Ivan. there are many who are still not in their homes and fighting with fema and insurance providers. it's so sad.

Wow -- stunning. Thank you for sharing those very well-composed photos LL. They really tell a sad story.

I don't know about what they should do about the low-lying areas, esp. in NO. It's obvious the water caused the damage in every place. Look at those beautiful trees in Gulfport -- if winds were the culprit they would not even be there.

P.S. BLated congrats to Bsmart :clap_1:
