Healthcare Reform Repeal Vote Scheduled

New posts
The repeal vote is just symbolic. The real work begins as they start to negotiate other legislation. If Obama wants to get anything done over the next four or maybe even six years he'll have to agree to curtail the largess of ObamaCare. The House has him over a barrel. It'll only get worse for him in two years as republicans will likely take control of the Senate as well.

Shopper you've been reading too many charts! come on back to the real world...the House doesn't have anyone over a barrel, least of all the president. :D

We can't afford all the savings from Obamacare.

REAL leadership would have been working together so that the issues in the bill got taken care of the first time.

They can either find a solution that works by amending problematic sections of the bill, or continue to play tug of war and waste time and resources.

Guess which option I prefer.

Funny how everyone agrees it's crap bill. Repeal it and rewrite it. Obama is going to be all alone if he's forced to block the repeal if it passes the House and the Senate.

Won't get repealed in the Senate, probably not the House either and definitely won't make it to the President.

Basically this is nothing more than a Republican Showboat show....

Wonder if they will sing Old Man River?

Shirley, you jest.

No one knows election outcomes two years down the road. Would you have predicted what happened in November just two years ago? Or what happened two years ago two years before that?

2 years in politics is like 12 hockey seasons. In that amount of time the Mighty Ducks have time to build a dynasty.

Time will tell. The ratio of dems vs. repubs that are up for reelection in 2012 is in republican's favor. It's the reverse of 2006.

..and don't call me Shirley.

Six additional states--Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Ohio, Wisconsin and Wyoming--petitioned in federal court on Tuesday to join Florida?s law suit challenging the constitutionality of the health care law President Barack Obama signed last March. Nineteen states had previously joined with Florida in this suit, making the total number of states that are now a party to the suit 26.

Virginia, which has filed its own lawsuit against Obamacare, is the 27th state challenging the constitutionality of the health-care law in federal court. (A complete list of all 27 states appears at the bottom of this story.)

Interesting analysis out by Dept of Health and Human Services:
At Risk: Pre-Existing Conditions Could Affect 1 in 2 Americans: | HealthCare.gov

Could half the country be uninsurable due to pre-existing health-conditions?

"Currently, health insurers are able to refuse coverage to people with pre-existing medical conditions, as defined by the insurer. Or, they're able to grant coverage but charge people with pre-existing coverage much higher premiums. Or, they're able to grant coverage and charge normal premiums with the stipulation that they will not provide coverage to treat the pre-existing condition that the patient has acknowledged. Insurers don't typically pull any of these tricks in the large group market (i.e., health insurance you get at the office), but in the individual market (i.e., health insurance you buy for yourself), they pull these tricks all the time.

The new HHS paper says that somewhere between 50 million to 129 million Americans below the age of 65 have pre-existing conditions. That represents 19 percent to 50 percent of the U.S. population under 65."
