I think we're about to declare war on Libya

the mi complex needs a proper bowel movement. who says we have to have a war every 20 years?" The commencement of the allied military campaign came on the eight-year anniversary of the start of the war in Iraq. On March 19, 2003, President George W. Bush addressed the nation at 10:16 p.m. from the Oval Office, telling Americans that coalition forces "have begun striking selected targets of military importance to undermine Saddam Hussein's ability to wage war."

I quite agree. It has seemed to me for decades that our military wants excuses to test it's toys. But, this is really about the oil, that is vital to Europe, being disrupted. France and Britain simply can't take this disruption of flow, and we are somewhat dependent on Europe running smoothly. Because of globalization, what ever happens in one "market/country" (Japan or Libya) ripples thru the entire financial system.

I wouldn't be surprised to see military action become as common as thunderstorms in our lifetime. Imagine - military action reality shows. All politicians are corporate puppets. Arguing about parties is like coke or pepsi.

Sure was a gorgeous day in SoWal!

I agree with you on both points. Damn the television, full speed ahead.

One big difference though - no congressional resolution. It seems U.N. approval is the only requirement this administration needs in implementing regime change within an arab nation.

It does seem as though the last twenty years have been rather bloody. These days invading a foreign nation doesn't even hit the nation's radar. A rather sad state of affairs, IMHO.

I guess the good news is if McCain had won we'd already have 50 thousand troops on the ground. We ended up with the lesser of two war mongers, aren't we lucky!

I am truly not a hawk, but the feeling I get from this latest move is that America is telling the region that we may be bogged down in a couple of other (not so sucessful) wars, and a major financial crisis, but we won't hesitate to drop ten dozen Tomahawks on your hometown, no matter where you live. I wonder if Gaddafi clenching his teeth and being defiant will help with the forensics when they try to identify his remains.
