I think Alltel leases usage from Sprint's towers so that will be good for many people if that is the case.

It will be good for me because I have Sprint! My husband just happened to be at the Planning Commission meeting when this tower was proposed, which is how I got the info.

It is a tower for Sprint/Nextel.

well, they need it according to friends of mine on nextel - the extended coverage has been promised for about 5 years. and its awful in our area. Alltel is still the best as far as I know - does anyone know differently? I would like to know... I have alltel, and have very few cell connection problems in the area (seaside only, on occasion)...

I saw one going up in Miramar, too...near Regional Utilities...

my cell reception (Verizon) is terrible around 331...we'll see:cool:

In the central part of SoWal (PCB west to 30-A/98), Verizon customers are in "extended coverage" - meaning Verizon is using Alltel's network. (Or at least that is how it was explained to me before I signed a contract with them. ) Verizon is supposed to be upgrading coverage in the Santa Rosa Beach area; I can vouch that the signal at Emerald Coast Middle School is stronger than it was at the beginning of the school year.

*228 is the update feature for Verizon as well, but I have to be at least as far west as Grande Boulevard at Sandestin to use it.
