Obama the Oblivious

Yes because costs were so under control before the passage of the ACA.:sarc: In 2010, the year the ACA was passed by Congress, Wellpoint and Anthem Blue Cross raised their rates by 39%! So much for costs being "under control".

so who in Washington addressed the problem by implementing the law?

I think the right is reacting to the success of Obamacare the same way Karl Rove reacted to Obama winning Ohio in 2012. They would repeal Obama's birth if they could.
by what measure, given the initial signup period just transpired, do you deem Obamacare a sucess?

Who claimed healthcare costs would cease to rise? Holy crap, talking to the anti-Obamacare crowd is like talking to a creationist. No one claims the law is perfect and the President has said it's too soon to know what the sign-up numbers actually mean. He has repeatedly asked for help to make the ACA better which surprisingly the Republicans are now doing. One of the major things the law has done is to give consumers a basic bill of rights when they purchase healthcare.
Would you care to remind us what the Republicans were/are doing to address the problems with healthcare in this country such as rising costs, crappy coverage, pre-existing conditions, preventive care, bankruptcy due to medical costs etc.?

The short answer would be when we get a single payer system and the Republicans can rightfully scream SOCIALISM!

The longer answer would be it's going to take quite some time, maybe years, before we know how the numbers balance. Hopefully the Republicans will continue to help make changes that improve it but, in the mean time I think we will continue to hear misleading statements like this from Marco Rubio, "the goal of the Affordable Care Act was to get 30 million people insured, but it only got 7 million", and this from Liz Cheney, "The numbers of people that support Obamacare and like it have been steadily dropping."

you, your age bracket, is being subsidized by a combination of millenial income, tax penalties, and deficit spending. yes, I know how that goes. Ask anyone half your age how it feels.

Rest assured you are not subsidizing us. Many of us pay for things via taxation, etc., which we may or may not use or benefit from. The primary benefit of the law to us was the opportunity to get off of our guaranteed issue plan (the only option for those with pre-existing conditions--and everything in your health record is considered a pre-existing condition!) and choose a plan that best met our minimal usage of healthcare. We lowered our costs by assuming more risk by choosing a high-deductible policy. The law is based on creating a pool where everyone has access to healthcare (including for pre-existing conditions), but pays their fair share, instead of showing up at the hospital for treatment uninsured and potentially facing financial ruin. This is how a similar law was effectively sold and implemented in Massachusetts. We’ll all see how it works or not over time. I simply posted my experience to-date as a data point, not an endorsement or predictor of value to others.

You did not answer the question. The law is a giveaway to the insurance companies and medicare recipients riding the backs of the millenials and the middle class. It was passed with zero republican support which means as a bipartisan law, it's a zero. A big fat zero. When Obama made that move, he set the table for non-cooperation. I'm not anti-Obama. I'm against bad law. This is bad law at it's finest, so put away your big paintbrush.

Rationalization du jour. The government stepped in and said companies can only charge 3X lower age brackets, so the free market went out the door, and you hopped on the backs of government cheese and millenials. Had the insurance companies rated you for your comensurate risk, given totally out of control provider cost, you rates would be higher for the coverage given. Given the gutted foundation of Social Security and Medicare, how can you defend this continued theft from younger generations. Where's the shame?

I guess I can't base my opinion purely on the hardships of twenty-somethings who have made questionable career decisions.
