Only 91 shopping days

New posts
1) I don't do Christmas shopping until December.
2) Checking/untangling/decorating with lights is my chore when I am home at Thanksgiving. (Noone else has the patience.) We are still using some strings of lights older than me. Don't buy then at Walmart and they'll last longer.

Is it almost time for the Ornament Exchange????? DD, you and a few select others have created a monster!!

We store ours inside and every year, there's several strings that don't work. When I start decorating, I plug 'em in and if they don't work, they're outta here. I don't like disposing of them either, but here they only get one chance to work. I have no patience in my old age.

When Beach Jacket was born, I went all out to decorate and make special meals for every holiday, even Mardi Gras. When she left for MIT, I was so depressed that I didn't decorate for holidays except for when she'd be home (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring break).

I decided that was making me more depressed and probably made my husband feel unimportant. So I started back decorating again and making special meals for each holiday. When he walks in and sees new placemats, decorations, etc., it makes him smile.

Only thing is that we don't do now is fresh garland everywhere at Christmas. Too expensive and too much mess from the dead needles.
