Paying For Garbage Collection In Your Future ?

New posts
If they want to four lane 3280, maybe Loyd and MC should pay for it. They are the primary ones who would seem to benefit.

Wow !

What a disaster this would be. We need to look a all the large parcels on 3280 to find out the real beneficiaries of this raid on the treasury.

Bet the same names would appear as the group being mentioned.

My source ?

The CAFR (Annual Audit) for Walton County 2003,2004,2005,2006. The are available in pdf format online at the Clerk of Courts website.

Thank you.

I think the 1% tax is a great way to pay for things. I'd pay 1.5% to get curbside recycling and and additional/well maintained bike paths.

Funny you mentioned well maintained bike paths. Earlier this month, the BCC moved money earmarked as Seagrove Bike Paths, into painting stripes on the bike path, at the crossings. Who cares if your bike goes out of control due to the shotty paving, as long as we have some lines at the crossings for people to ignore.

Sorry, Left out that part. They would repeal the current statute (which was not approved by a referendum - was approved by a super majority of the Commission in 1994. They would propose a replacement tax of 1% that would make the tax bondable

Okay, someone please help me out here. Why do we need it to be bondable? So we can spend it before we get it? So we can pay interest on it? So we can transfer the cost of trash pickup to the taxpayers and still get their 1%?
I am thinking it is a rather poorly disguised tax increase. Am I missing something?

And one more thing. If you have questions about where and how the 1% sales tax gets spent, wait until you try to figure out the public works budget.

I hate those stripes! Even more annoying on roller blades! IMO the entire bike/multiuse path should be a continuous strip of smooth blacktop - much more distinctive/noteworthy to a driver than stripes!
