what pray tell is an emo ? i lost touch with the teen set about 20+ years ago !
From urbandictionary:
"1) The fans of emo music (emocore, emotional hardcore), a music genre consisting of hardcore rock with angsty lyrics and a good dose of screaming. The singers/screamers of emo music are typically relatively young guys with feminine voices. Emo bands are also (in stereotype) primarily from New Jersey.

2) The style of clothing stereotypically worn by fans of emo music. This consists of, in general: tight band t-shirts or vintage 80's t-shirts, longer (messy) hair often died black, tight (usually girl's) pants, shoes by Vans or Converse, messenger bags, anything checkered (usually black-and-white or black-and-pink), studded belts, thick-framed glasses, neckties, etc.
(Note: girl emo kids often cut their hair short in the back and angled down in the front, less often died black).

3) The mood that stereotypically displays being an emo kid. They are generally considered the subculture of high-school, and while sometimes referred to as manic depressive or "cutters," are usually quite social. Very romantic, often downtrodden. More realistically, teenagers who listen to heavy music and have no qualms with displaying their emotions. (ie, don't feel the need to prove themselves as "bad-@$$," like many rock fans.)"

More than you wanted to know. :D

Sounds like the "Brokeback Mountain" guys to me. ;-)
No, No...*I'm* the cowgirl, not the other way around. ;-)

Interesting aside: One of the lead stories around here (soWal local news stations) is that Brokeback is being :banned: in the area. Not sure about Destin, but you can't see it in Bay county. The new stations won't even say the word "homosexual" in their reporting. From WJHG:
Brokeback Mountain is the latest film in a long line of racy films to come out of Hollywood. Brokeback is about two cowboys out in Wyoming during the 1960's that end up falling in love. Some scenes are explicit, and it is rated R.
The content is for older viewers, but theatres across the panhandle are not showing this film.

After talking to theatre managers, they say the call comes from corporate offices. No one locally decides what movies are brought to our theatres.

Some residents in Bay County are interested and say they would like to view the movie. Others, though, say a film lauding the gay life style has no business being shown here.

Shoot if I know! Means different to different groups. But when I hear the kids throwing the term around it usually is in relation to music, poetry, hopelessness, and the pictures of sadness (depressed) with the hair flopping over face. Who knows? :idontno:

The buzz on TV today is that Brokeback will get the Oscar for best film.
I didn't think it was THAT great...I thought it was a little slow... :idontno:

That will certainly get a bunch of panties very wadded up.
You know the media - they're just hyping it because it had a broader release today.

OMG they're talking about it right now on CNN!

OOPS! My bad - they're talking about Golden Globes this weekend, not Oscars, since those nominations haven't come out.
