Once again I tried to give the Walton Sun a chance, and once again I am sad trees died to print it.
Once you got past the 2 hatchet articles on the Rep (news flash: no employer can publicly say exactly why someone was terminated, just that they were unsatisfactory) there were only a few original articles ........... and someone sneering at the Olympics.
Sorry, Ron Hart, I and many others (87 million tuned in Sunday BTW) didn't get the memo that the Winter Olympics were just for "gay men and elite northeasterners," that watching them was comparable to being "one Oprah or Lifetime show away from getting a cat" and that the only thing resembling a "real sport" is hockey.
The 82 countries participating are not just there for a "pillow fight among unimportant Nordic countries" or to "parade in" so we could see who to "invade next" but because of national pride and the importance of setting aside our differences every 4 years to come together and celebrate athleticism, hard work, and triumph.
Yes, I'll grant you that curling is a bit odd, but as far as the events go, I am willing to bet you couldn't do 99% of what these "non-athletes" are doing at even 1/10 of their speed.
Go sneer at something else and leave the Olympics to the millions of people around the world who actually know enough to enjoy watching them.
