I am starting a Walton County Secular Support group for home schooling families that believe in diversity and free thinking. I welcome families of all faiths and cultures looking to belong to a group that respects tolerance and acknowledges open-minded friendships.

That is great. I was homeschooled in walton county and wish this would have been available at that time!

Great idea and kudos to you!

Good luck. My children have finished their school days. Check out the Alaska Home School group. Many friends homeschooled their children while we lived there. Very impressive. The State of Alaska is quite supportive of the home school program or it was.

Wish this was available last year. Felt kind of lost when homeschooling the girls and put them back into school. Didn't have the energy to start one myself. Right now, just can't take them back out. Good luck to the group!

Wow, it looks as though I'm pretty late for this thread. :idontno:
I live in Santa Rosa Beach and homeschool my 6 year old. I also have a 3 year old and a 19 month old. I found a homeschool support group for NW Florida and was all excited. We bought our little valentines for the party and all that only to have it scheduled in Gulf Breeze. That's just too far to go, kwim? Does anybody know of any groups closer to this area? We are new to the area, and I feel awful that my kids haven't made any friends yet! My son signed up for baseball, but that doesn't start until March. If it makes a difference, I am definately NOT looking for religious based stuff.

I would love a homeschool secular group here in SoWal. The only secular group I found was in Pensacola, and I'm not doing that drive. It would be great to get together with other families. My daughter keeps asking me to start up a group. I thought maybe putting something in The Walton Sun, and hope that others saw the desperate cry of my 9 yr old.

Secular Home School Group

GOOD NEWS! A secular home school group has formed in Walton County and met last week at a local park. We discussed various curriculums, art, music, athletics, field trips, creative projects, volunteering in our communities. We shared ideas and delighted in being together. The children played and are eager to see each other again.

To ask questions or get information, please feel free to pm me . . . or reply to this thread. We'd love to reach the parents who want to direct their children's educations.
