Our preemie is now 6'2". The only problems she had were (a) a little jaundice and (b) having a klutz as a mother. Our house was Dutch colonial with sloped ceilings upstairs, and I was focusing so hard on navigating her feet into one of those infant carriers that you strap on yourself that I lifted her too high, hitting her soft spot on the ceiling so hard that the abrasion bled. We took her to Egleston Children's Hospital in ATL. I stayed in bed crying for days because I was afraid I'd damaged her brain and she wouldn't be smart. (I was able to indulge myself in this breakdown because we had a nanny since I was pretty weak after being hospitalized on a boatload of anticontaction drugs, steroids, having breathing problems, etc., for two months).

Anyhow, so happy things are going well with gttbm's grandchild.

He is a little jaundice as well. I think as soon as he gets to 5lbs and the jaundice is no longer an issue, he'll be home. Thanks for the encouragment. Guess I'll be the "nanny". You know I'll just hate every second of it.;-)

Even those of us who DO have kids are experimenting. How come nobody told me about the Cliff Notes?

SJ, the only prob. about your no diapers white t-shirt theory is that sandy poop is pretty nasty.
My cousin grew up in South Africa on the beach with no clothes at all. He just hung out (pun intended) with 27 German Sheppards. No diapers, no clothes, just a big smile, and he is well potty trained now. I think he is now 8 years old and is back in the states, and is required to wear real clothes. Does anyone remember the Red Power Ranger? That is him. :D

Well, when he finally got some clothes on...he was styling in that red suit! That was the first avatar of yours I think I remember!

I'll bet he's one cool kid! By the way I loved the Red Power Ranger! (not to be confused with "red speedo" man. just as clarification.)

Just remember, I don't have kids, so I will be experimenting. :D

 Like CCK says - we're all experimenting....shhhhhhh ... don't tell the kids!

I remember bringing daughter home and looking at husband  What do we do now?
Being an older parent I think helps in that we don't stress too much and assume we will make mistakes along the way. Who knows.....

What a hoot! We were driving the daughter home from the hospital and stopped in a parking lot to see if she was still in the car seat! They gave us a book..."Caring for your Newborn"...as if!

I remember driving home from the hospital with Walker. I went about 2 mph all the way home.

I hate to say it but in our case it was kinda good no family was close to "help" out, 'cause then they would have seen all the dumb stuff we did! We just fumbled through. (We did read books too though --)

Her first bath was in the kitchen sink and we were so proud when WE got it done (yes took 2 of us!) I raised her up and whacked her head on the metal cabinets!
It's a wonder she's alive and doing well today...........

I had locked her in the CAR!!!!!!!!!!! :eek:Thank GOD, a coat hanger worked. I haven't told the daughter this one.:floor:
