Quitting smoking is very freeing (but very hard!!!) I miss it every day.
Patch. Don't cut them in half, and follow the directions to the letter.
Wellbutrin.
Completely change your routine. Instead of getting up and having coffee, newspaper, and smoke, I jumped straight into the shower and slapped a fresh patch on. Then didn't stop moving- drank my coffee and cleaned out a drawer, folded laundry, etc.
Pick a day to quit (I picked January 23 that year- didn't want to be part of the New Year resolution madness). A week before you quit, write down every single cigarette you smoke- and where you were and the time. You will see a pattern, and you can start planning your routine changes. Also, quitting in the winter was great- I didn't really want to stand outside in the cold to smoke. Frigid temps are a good motivator.
I will say it again- Patch. No gum. Patch. Don't cheat it.
Even though I didn't smoke in the car when the kids were in it, I loved to smoke and drive when they weren't in it. So I would take an apple with me- and became addicted to eating apples in the car. I still am!

I have to toss an apple core out somewhere everyday!
A support group helped. I found a good one through my doctor. We met once a week for 12 weeks and biatched and moaned, and gradually the biatching and moaning turned into pats on the back and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
So good luck Mango- it was the hardest thing I ever did. But you will know when it is time. You will wake up and just say "I sick of this this shee-it!"
