Speaking of cards, do we have any Texas Hold'em players in the crowd?

Are you kidding? Texas Hold'em is my favorite. Next to Taboo, but that's a whole 'nother tangent...

Back to cooking my daughter's recipe for the Tuscan dish, sugo finto. Me to self, "GET OFF THE BOARD!"

Okay - I can still edit. Dinner was awesome with the vine-ripened tomatoes, fresh Italian parsley, and basil from the garden.

Recipe please- my kitchen counter is covered with tomatoes. I have had tomato sandwiches everyday for lunch. :D A huge limb fell onto my tomato garden and wiped out 4 plants, but that hasn't seemed to slow down the harvest. Have tons of basil too. Maybe I could set up a little Italian market instead of a lemonade stand.

Sugo Finto (Tomato Sauce) with Pasta

1 medium onion, diced
6 cloves garlic, diced
1 cup Italian flat-leaved parsley, coarsely chopped
? cup extra-virgin olive oil
1-? to 2 cups white wine
2 28-ounce cans Progresso peeled tomatoes, coarsely chopped with liquid reserved or 6 large vine-ripened tomatoes
1 cup fresh basil, torn by hand
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon garlic salt
? teaspoon garlic powder
? teaspoon coarsely-ground black pepper
1 package of pasta
Parmigiano-Reggiano, grated

Pour the olive oil into a large saut? pan at a high temperature until the oil begins to heat up. Add the onion, garlic, and parsley, and cook until the edges of the onions get dark brown, stirring constantly. Add 1-? to 2 cups of white wine (or enough to cover the vegetables), and saut? until most of the liquid evaporates. Add the tomatoes, basil, sugar, salt, garlic powder, and pepper, then turn the heat down to medium. Stir occasionally, adding reserved liquid from tomatoes as needed.

Serve with pasta tossed in olive oil and topped with freshly-grated Parmigiano-Reggiano. Serves 3-4 as a main course, or 6 as a primo (first course or side dish).

I am addicted to it!!!!!

What is going on here folks? This is a thread for tangents and now we have four consecutive messages on the same topic. Get back off topic. Focus is for the other threads. There is a favorite recipe thread. Run a search and post those yummy-looking recipes over there so that we can find them later.

:floor:I cannot believe that there are actually four posts in row on the same topic, in this thread to boot!

yummmm..thanks....I even have romas. I kinda went crazy at tomato plant buying time. The only kind I couldn't find right away were the pink tomatoes-those are awesome.

What about those gas prices, my goodness, gonna have to get a second job just to fill up my van. UGH. Thought I would get off subject for you SJ!:D
