Tea Party Types and GOP: Explain this to me

New posts
It would be nice if they quit arguing about who pays what and start considering the fact that the federal income tax system is broken and the correct answer is to find a way to fix it. Just maybe they'll do that in the new Congress though I expect gridlock instead.

Senate vote 1 is over. Two or more votes to go.

The Senate on Saturday voted down 53-36 a proposal to extend the Bush-era tax cuts for middle-income families.

With 14-20 Trillion in debt and no budget cuts ever discussed they have no choice but to raise or expire the tax cuts. As for unemployment seems illogical to give 2yrs worth of checks when what they paid in done with in probably 2 months. Like Social Security it's unsustainable. But Congress don't care about numbers.
And think of this.... How can all State's and FED budgets be so far in the red? If unemployment is at 10% aren't 90% still working? Normally about 4-5% don't or can't work so really their down 4-5% in payroll revenue. They fudge and slant stats to keep us in a panic.
Maybe if Congress would stop purchasing INK for the Treasury we'd all be in better shape!

Reagan's budget director was on Colbert or Stewart last week and said "trickle down" economics was a steaming pile o' crap.

I know. He was on 60 Minutes about two weeks ago. He is very emphatic about this, and this is something he has studied his whole life, and he is admitting that he and Reagan made a major, major mistake, and yet no one seems to be listening when he says "tax cuts are a bad thing!"

Stockman was discredited before he left the Reagan administration and is now only trying to return to the limelight. The majority of economists reccommend extending the tax cuts.

? Economists Recommend Extending Bush Tax Cuts

I believe a lot of the economists work for financial institutions and have a vested interest in maintaining a high level of investment among the super rich. Unfortunately, that's not going to help the economy.

That is a pretty lame reasoning for discounting the expert's opinions on the economy. Once the Chosen One fetish takes hold, there's no turning back.
