Wal-Mart and homeland security- you can't make this stuff up

New posts
Has anyone thought that maybe Wal-Mart might be targeted for a terrorist attack? Beside a major stadium or a parade, I can't think of a quicker way to cause the economy to nosedive than someone blowing a Wal-Mart up and then saying it could happen across the country. Those stores would be like ghost towns. Just a thought...

I still wonder how people who claim that they don't shop at Walmart know so much about the people who shop at Walmart. It's like the people who bash Fox News but report that they wouldn't be caught dead watching Fox News.

 Oh, no! This board doesn't have any of those does it?

Would someone who lives in SoWal please list all the places to shop where only US made products are sold. When I was there Thanksgiving week I went to only locally owned businesses an only saw items made in Vietnam, China, Tiwan, Bangladesh & points East......far East.

I know all the elitist jerks that live in the area & post on this forum hope all the "little people" are happy.:sarc:

The Farmer's Market is a good place to find products that are not just made in the USA, but made locally.

I can't tell you which stores sell only 100% American products, but a quick label check ought to tell you where most items are made.

Many great items are still Made in the USA and where we choose to spend our money has a direct impact on how many jobs are available in the US.

You can shop at Wal-mart if you want - but each dollar you spend there is destroying the US economy and adding to the deficit.

These are 2 sites that allow you to search for American manufactured items by category.

American Made Products and/or Services Made in USA

Still Made in USA.com - American-Made Products for Home and Family

Other than food, I doubt that much of the things found in American's homes, who don't shop at Walmart, are not made in the USA.

A lot of things are not made in the US, but have a competitor who still makes them here.

Many of the items in my house are made in the US, because it's a priority for me.

I eat off Corelle plates.

I mix, measure, and store with Pyrex.

I cook with All-clad, Calphalon, and Magnalite.

I drink tap water out of a Nalgene water bottle.

I sleep on Company Store pillows.

I ride a Trek bicycle.

My toiletries are by Burt's Bees, Soap Peddler, Dial, Aveda, Tampax, and Proctor and Gamble.

My dishwasher is a Whirlpool.

I cook on a Weber grill with Kingsford charcoal.

It takes a little effort/research, but you can still find most items made in the USA.

I won't bash Wal-Mart and then state that I don't shop there. Heck I've been there within the last month, why? I needed something at 11pm and Tom Thumb didn't carry it. I still hate going to Wal-Mart though and only purchase the item I intended to and get out. Wal-Marts primary business plan is to lure you in and then sell you tons of crap you don't need or intended on purchasing, one of the ways to beat them is to get over that hurtle.

As to the comment about Fox News, I choose not to watch it, but guess what I can't pay my tag fees with the county without being exposed to it. So while I hate it, I'm occasionally forced to be exposed to it. Similarly to some of the people who post on here are occasionally exposed to common sense.

I do not shop at Wal-mart and have not been inside one in more than a year. They are evil and I choose not to feed the beast.

If I TRULY need some item and cannot find it in the local stores I do go to a box store like Target, but I refuse to shop at Wal-mart.

If I spend money there, I help it succeed in killing local businesses and american manufacturing.

wow! so walmart "squeezes" their supplier so they can offer inexpensive products to america and its them that push the jobs overseas? allow me to inform you that if these companies could produce products at compeditive rates the wouldnt have to leave the states. and if these companies can keep walmart as a customer, and why wouldnt they, of course they move overseas. and the reason why they cant produce compeditively is because of the big government burden. it seams that every month i hear of a factory closing up manufacturing and moving it to china. and thats solely on high tax burden, high labor costs mainly due to union intervention and rediculous government regulation that mostly has nothing to do with safety. We have one of the highest corporate tax rates on the planet and that in itself if a major contributor to this problem. if you want to blame anyone, blame your democratic party that says one thing and does another. and blame your unions. perfect example, car manufacturers moving out of detroit and moving to texas, alabama, georgia and miss because of having low tax burden and no union intervention. and by the way, walmarts prices are based on the quantity they purchase and how they are able to turn around the sale of all these products before they even have to pay the tab.

i too used to blame walmart in my younger days, but it only took some realistic knowledge and real life experience to make me understand. i still wont go there though

but what do i know, i only do this everyday of my life....
