What is "the change" everyone is talking about???

New posts
I want a choice rather than voting for the "lesser of two evils".

I want to be proud of being an American, again.

Been listening to this "Change" Sheit from politicians longer than most of you have been alive and it is just that, Sheit!!!

The damn thing is just too big for a lowly president to make a difference.

And by the way, as soon as they get elected, POOF!!!!, and the promises of "Change" is gone.

Don't want to sound too much of a pessimist, but being old has some benefit (If memory is a benefit).

I think I'll have a Bloody Mary for lunch, if not earlier.

Personally, my big concern is about the future and the major issues we have coming down the pike. I don't know if we can avoid a :trainwreck: but somebody should try!!!

-- Fix Medicare so it doesn't chew up the entire budget in 20 years

-- Ditto on Social Security

-- I don't trust the government to offer anything but the most basic of health insurance policies to a very small subset of citizens

-- Our debt load is staggering, won't somebody do something about it please? I love tax cuts as much as anyone but not at the expense of my children's future.

-- A commitment to intelligent energy policy by our government, not just the private sector

I would be happy to vote for a true fiscal conservative with an environmental bent who is not going to make social conservative issues a major part of the next presidency. I continue to be intrigued by Romney, but I also like McCain's foreign policy experience which would be extremely helpful in the near term. I also find Obama very interesting even though "fiscal conservative" is not the first thing that comes to mind with him.

Well, as long as I'm dreaming, ...

I'd like the President to change time for the country to Daylight Savings Time year-round. I hate it getting dark at 5pm.

I'd like to not have to pay to receive free broadcast tv -- they need to scrap this HD TV requirements.

Ditch the war on drugs, which fills the prison system, and leaves many people living illegal lifestyles. It seems that the politicians who smoke and snort, are being hypocritical.

I'd like to see the Fed Gov't do something about stopping the war profiteers who steal money from the tax payers.

I'd like someone to put a plug in the US bank vault, which seems to be oozing out from all sides.

I'd like to see English be the preferred choice of language in the US.

I'd like to see the lobbyists get kicked out of DC, except for my BIL, who needs a job to pay for my sister's lifestyle.

and while you are taking notes, how about some whirled peas?

:lolabove: Yup-Yup!! Whirled Peas in the Light! :floor:

Hey BR, I recommend getting a better accountant. It is possible to write off finance charges on credit cards. You just have to have the purchases be for business items only, and no personal uses on the credit card. Set up a business, which writes reviews of products, like Needless Markup clothing and diamond rings, etc. You purchase the items and do a consumer report usage test on them, and write about it in your blog.

A word of warning, an IRS audit is not a pretty thing, no sir.

From on of my favorite Bands. I am looking for a "Cool Change".

Litter River Band - Cool Change

If there's one thing in my life that's missing
It's the time I spend alone
Sailing on the cool and bright clear waters
There's lots of those friendly people
Showin me ways to go
And I never want to lose your inspiration
Time for
a cool change...
I know that it's time
for a cool change
Now that my life
is so pre-arranged
I know that it's time
for a cool change
Well I was born in the sign of water
And it's there that I feel my best
The albatross and the whales
they are my brothers
It's kind of a special feeling
When you're out on the sea alone
Starin' at the full moon
like a lover
Time for
a cool change...
I know that it's time
for a cool change
Now that my life
is so prearranged
I know that it's time
for a cool change
Well I've never been romantic
And sometimes I don't care
I know it may sound selfish
But let me breathe the air
If there's one thing in my life that's missing
It's the time that I spend alone
Sailing on the cool and bright clear waters
It's kind of a special feeling
When you're out on the sea alone
Staring at the full moon like a lover
Time for
a cool change...
I know that it's time
for a cool change
Now that my life is so prearranged
I know that it's time
for a cool change

This dangerous method of opening must be changed. After a long night of PUI, I don't want to get in line at the emergency room just because I was hungry.

Wonder if they wrote that for global warming or mental pause....

Change...

Give me honest leadership concerned for the people they represent, not the people they owe favors. Take away the incentive to favor corporations instead of people by limiting donations and lobbying. In short I want government of the people, by the people and for the people.

Fix our healthcare issues, begin by regulating insurance companies.

Stop calling Social Security an entitlement program and fix it, no ones granny should have to eat out of a dumpster because we couldn't balance a budget. Change the golden fleece retirement system that Congress enjoys, make them retire with the same Social Security they are asking the country to do. Maybe then they will fix Social Security and leave it in surplus instead of using it in the general fund. (You began paying extra into SS in the 80's to offset the shortage that Reagan foresaw. He solved the problem, but the surplus disappeared under the Bush administration.)

Balance the budget, begin by removing the tax cap. I'm taxed on 100% of my earnings, Bill Gates should be as well. He doesn't work any harder than I do; make it a true fair tax.
