What will YOU give up for Lent?

New posts
Maybe I'll give up lurking for Lent!
That's FN awesome! We miss you.

See, there's just absolutely no FN way I could give up cussing and using vulgar language for Lent. Alcohol is easier. Thank God my spring break starts on Easter. Think I'll have a mimosa before church.;-)

Hey, DD, one year I gave up chips and salsa. That was pretty difficult. Hubby put chips and a jar of salsa in my Easter basket.

:clap::clap::clap::clap: the beloved kitty is very much missed around here.

I'm giving up liver, onions, gizzards and blizzards.

I thought you said buzzards.

one year in college I gave up mascara. and at the time it was a real sacrifice (omg, what a girlie girl). I've hardly worn it for years and could care less if I ever do.

I'm with BR - I would do alkyhall, but never cussing.

Darlene - you don't need to give up a pucking thing more.

DD - let's give up bras. and I can give up white foods (and sweets of all kinds) - maybe that is the best idea of all.

One year I gave up my wisdom teeth for Lent - had all 4 impacted teeth surgically removed when I was 30 - which meant I also gave up solid food for 10 days.

For a few years, my kids gave up Coke/soda for Lent, but now we drink it so infrequently, the sacrifice would be pointless. The year I gave up coffee was just too hard - for everyone around me. Last year I gave up all snacks after 7pm, and I lost 5 lbs. Think I'll try it again this year.

My mother-in-law (a very devote Catholic) tells me that we are permitted to take on a charity or repetitive do-good task in lieu of or in addition to giving up something. I've never gone this route, but I would consider it if I found the right circumstance.

I have thought long and hard about this. If I tried to give up coffee, all about me would suffer. I'm giving up my unsweetened Iced Tea which has become a 1/2 gallon a day habit. That should be just painful enough. The trick will be to replace it with water and not more coffee or adult beverages.

I've done this, too. I much prefer taking on something than giving something up. ;-)

Maybe I'll give up b!tching. Nah...........

Looks like I might do the "no white food" thing. Believe me, this will be sheer torture for me. It's my favorite food group. But maybe I might get a little healthier in the process.

That's an excellent choice IMO.

Facebook? SoWal? Those are my 2 biggest vices.
