Here is a website that will help you figure out what your ideal weight should be. Sometimes we think our ideal weight is much lower than what it should actually be for our body types. This will help you see that.

Great website. The other ones always depress me. According to this one, I have 11 lbs to lose to be in the normal weight range and anything else I lose will be a bonus. Thanks -- you made my day!

I lost 3 lbs since the weekend before Halloween and would like to lose 5 more (ambitious) before Thanksgiving for my high school reunion.

That website is VERY motivating because it's realistic...

Here I am! Depending on if you want to use last Saturday or Monday for a starting weight. If you use Saturday then I lost 3.5 pounds. If you use Monday then I only lost 1.5.

Whichever you use, I'm not where I was last week:clap_1:
good job BC. south beach is a very good one!

After failing miserably on the "PeteyKan's diet", I am now on the "hard candy diet plan"! Will try that for a couple of months before I try the "see-food" diet.

 you are just such an inspiration that I could just die!!! ;-)

If God had wanted me to bend over and exercise she would have put diamonds on the floor!;-)

:clap_1: you're a nut!

hey wench...is it okay if I go get me a Whataburger? I am sad and need some comfort food. :(

double approval granted. hope it was yummy,. vacation hangovers are hell.

Get double cheese.

exactly.

Paula: 3 pounds!!! yooo hooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clap_1:

I just got back from a weekend trip where we ate out each and every meal. why is it that I just cannot order a salad at a restaurant? unless it is on the side, and they are giving it to me whether I want it or not?

Sueshore: I enjoyed a wonderful cheeseburger this weekend and wish I had another one now.

I still have no scale. But my measurements remain the same, because of exercise and exercise alone. I don't miss having a scale by the way, maybe I'll wait to purchase one, and try to really concentrate on other progress indicators such as: how do my clothes fit? what are my basic measurements (waist, hips, thighs, chest)? and how do I feel?

Even though I went to yoga this morning, I still feel kind of yucky from a daily crap-filled diet. It really makes a difference and so I'm going to do some menu planning right now.

Thanks all for providing motivation once again.!!!!!

Good job, Paula!!!

Toots: I know what you mean about eating crap and then feeling like crap. I'm right there with ya! On whom shall we blame this? No whip crackin' from me this week. I need it myself!

It feels good to have lost those 3 pounds, though I'm keeping in mind that those were the 3 pounds I added from my travels and Halloween. But at least I'm back to a reasonable starting place to take off another 5 in the next 3 weeks (well, 2.5 weeks), and then another 5 after that (during the holiday season?!?!?). As for feeling like crap after eating a lot, well, you could consider that motivation... Anyway, those are the pounds that tend to come off quickly so you should be OK in a day or two, Toots.

Also, seeing my boyfriend from the second grade at my high school class reunion the Saturday after Thanksgiving is motivation.

Off to watch dancing with the stars with the family...

Dear KDW,

How long did it take you to lose 50 lbs. on South Beach and how long have you kept it off?

It took me about 10 months. I started it 2 years ago this January. Now, I must admit however I have gained 10 back in last few months. I am not happy about that, because I still need to lose about 34 lbs. I am not going to beat myself up about it though. I know I can and will do it. Good luck to you, and please keep us updated on your progress!!!

I lost about 15 pounds on the south beach diet a few years ago (plus walking). Though I gained 10 back, I've kept the other 5 off with no problem, so I consider that a success since I think many people gain most of the pounds back after such a crash diet. I really think South Beach Diet give people motivation because it works so quickly, but it's not good to stay on it (or at least not the original one) for very long because it doesn't let you have whole grains or fruits which are so good for you and should be part of any healthy diet.

This is very true Paula. I was maintaining my weight loss until I let myself slip and started eating the "bad" carbs again. I know that is why I gained some of the weight back. Once you slip, you have to go through the week of no carbs to get control of the cravings again. I know that is how is it is with me anyway. I feel so much better when I am eating the whole grains. I am on a mission to do it again!!!!
