Debate Analysis and Opinions

Oh, come on. The woman is hated. You might not like to believe the folks you are in political allegiance with are capable of such, but come on. If you doubt there is hate, and I mean hate directed toward the woman, cruise on over to dailykos or wonkette, two Punzey faves. Or, save the keystrokes and look around the political thread.

I guess I am not so bitter because I have never been at a workplace where a beauty pageant alumna outworked me. She isn't qualified to be the veep, but I don't hate the lady.

I disagree wholeheartedly skunky. hate is very strong. how can you hate someone you don't even know? we had dinner last night with friends who all had plenty to say about the Palin subject - observations, thoughts, feelings, disgust, funny stuff, etc. not one person could bear the thought of her in the white house. every single one of us agreed that it was a total pucked up situation with her on a presidential ticket seemingly at the top of the ticket. but, it was friends sharing thoughts about a candidate. hate never entered into anything about her. we strongly disagree with the Palin pick, we strongly disagree with her qualification. we do not know her personally. hate is reserved for someone you know very, very well who has earned such a strong emotion. Palin does not qualify even for hate.

hate? no. concern for mccain's decision making process in selecting her, and her potential presence in the white house? absolutely.

I mean really. we all live in a very beautiful slice of heaven on earth. life is far too short to let hate of anything or anyone enter into our beings. beleive me when i say this: many of us are very concerned about someone like Palin even having a chance at being in the white house. none of our lives depend on the outcome (but the quality of our lives will be at stake). the point is - it is kept in perspective. even if she ends up in the white house, we'll still protect our quality of life, enjoy our rather insultated community of friends and do what we've done the last 8 years - talk and share our concerns but always remember what is important - and that is our family and friends. our community. no one can take those things away. but hatred can.

Tootsie, thanks. As usual, you have it just right.

How can one hate someone unless you know that person? Hate has nothing to do with my opinion about her.

The choice of Palin as VP says more about McCain than anything else; many of us are concerned that he would allow this choice to be made--or make it himself, which I don't believe he did; and, some of us have lived through experiences with people with personality traits such as she has demonstrated in the last five years and seen disasterous consequences. She is all about Palin, nothing more...

She is not the type of person I want to see anywhere near a serious situation and I would have felt the same way if I was in Alaska, voting for a governor.

For lots of reasons, I would not have voted for McCain and anyone; but, as a citizen, I would have felt okay with him as president, if he had made a better choice for his running mate. How can he claim Country First, and choose Palin?

I stand by my assertion that there is plenty of hatred directed at Palin. You might think I would have to go to a libnut website to find some proof to buttress my argument but you would be incorrect. Do the link http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1846832,00.html?imw=Y

Love this: "Women are weapons-grade haters. Hillary Clinton knows it. Palin knows it too. When women get their hate on, they don't just dislike, or find disfavor with, or sort of not really appreciate. They loathe ? deeply, richly, sustainingly. I do not say this to disparage my gender; women also love in more or less the same way..."

This is why I teach at a boys' school.

Millions of people have give Obama much support in their prelim vote and in their strong participation in this election. Palin has done nothing other than be selected by McCain. She has not shown us much yet except things that many of us find distasteful and lacking. and do not blame the media if she can't answer a question or perform under the pressure of an interview. We can compare her easily to Hillary, and the comparison just makes Palin look extremely weak. how she became a governor is beyond me.

He only got half the vote of your party. That's not what I'd consider an overwealming vote of confidence.

your analogy is way off. just does not work.

Obama went into this race as a politician from the state and national level and pursued his interest in being president. yes, its been a long interview. and he's worked very hard to articulate to every american why he's prepared. He has spoken in every kind of format imaginable to let you get to know his leadership and other qualifications. He does not crumble under the pressure and he represents the interests of all americans, not just a certain segment.

Politicians are basically self-absorbed, pompous asses incapable of representing anything but their own self-interest which is primarily to be reelected so that they can continue to suck at the public teet. Bragging that Obama is a more qualified politician is hardly a ringing endorsement.

Skunky, I think most people who hate Palin do so in the same manner you hate herbals. The best comparison I could make. ;-)

It works both ways I guess. From CBS News online:

Palin regaled the cheering crowd [Saturday] with a story about how she was reading her Starbucks mocha cup yesterday, which featured a quotation from former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

?Now she said it, I didn?t,? Palin said of Albright. ?She said, ?There?s a place in Hell reserved for women who don?t support other women.??

Story continues ...

The crowd roared its approval, but according to several sources, Albright actually said, ?there?s a place in Hell reserved for women who don?t help other women.?
