2011 State of the Union Address

New posts
His numbers are going up. He's being compared to-
Wait for it,,,
Reagan.

I haven't seen a Republican candidate with the mojo to beat him yet. Just sayin'.

Disrespect him all you want - he still won and will probably repeat in 2012.

Another Obama win in 2012 and then 8 years of Hillary after that. Yay.

:eek::eek::eek::eek: Hillary! AAAAAAAGH!

Seriously, I think Obama has a good shot at winning. I'll bet in the next election Reps take the Senate and keep their House majority, and Obama will keep his seat for four more years.

This is the Clinton era all over again. Those were good times too. (Of course, to complete things we'll need another asset bubble, I wonder what it will be?)

PRESIDENT Obama is going down ............. in history. ;-)

He already has. The question is what will the verdict be on his overall record? We won't know that for years. I do think the next two years will reflect better on him than the last two.

Your boy Obama is going down.

Who, in your view, can beat Obama? Sarah Palin? Nope. Newt? Nope. Romney? Nope. Guiliani? Nope. The best bet reps have is probably in Pawlenty, but I don't think he has a chance. Obama will likely get a lot of moderates in this next election, the hard and middle of the road lefties, and every motivated black voter in the country, that's a big chunk of the electorate.

I agree; someone will have to come out of the woodwork for the Rs to have a viable candidate...
and the fracture with the the Rs and the TPs will no doubt cause all kinds of "lack of unity" problems.

Hopefully, reasonable minds will prevail and we can work together for the entire country.

Most on this board are probably too young to remember much about the Sputnik moment and how this country rebounded afterwards, the following article speaks to that and suggests how we may get to the place again.
State of the Union 2011: Obama's "Sputnik moment" - By Fred Kaplan - Slate Magazine
The lesson from the 1950s is that it takes more than private enterprise to revive American innovation. It takes lots of government spending.
