John, keep posting and remember there are all kinds of good old boys, some you agree with some you don't because there are multiple perspectives. As for not liking it here, I've been here close to twenty years and even with all its flaws don't think I would rather live anywhere else and unlike some on here I could be in a position to leave and choose not to.

Florida has no specific one-size fits all approach to determining who is a resident and who is not a resident. As defined in Florida Statute 196.012(18) for purposes of the homestead exemption, residence is the place where a person has his or her true, fixed and permanent home and principal establishment to which, whenever absent, he or she has the intention of returning. A person may have only one permanent residence at a time. Unless you can prove Ms. Harris is an illegal alien or has violated Florida Law this is nothing more than petty, childish, immature political bickering that Walton County is infamous for.

Is someone saying she violated Florida homestead law? I didn't see that accusation, but they take that serious. Lots of folks get in trouble for homesteading rental units. In that video, I thought she said she was homesteaded in Alabama.

I agree some of this does seem petty, but the same can be said for a lot of what Ms. Harris has done. What goes around comes around, just sad it takes up County time that could be used on better things. And am I missing how this relates to the thread?

I do know this. If she is not a bona fide Florida resident she sure doesn't belong on the Planning Commission.

What I'm reading into all this is that the work is being done to stabilize an area where cooling towers are located, presumably for a chilled water HVAC system and the stop work order is nit picking by our crooked politicians to "get" Ms. Harris since, obviously she's no friend of the clowns who are our county government officials. The white sand rule is just a loophole that these idiots are using to get even.

Ms. Harris is considered by Florida law to be a resident. She is not homesteaded in Florida but has established a rental home unit. According to what Ms. Harris explained in the video she has held a current Florida drivers license (she had an Alabama license and a Florida license) and established a rental home here which are the only requirements in Florida to be considered a resident.

Nit picking at its finest.
