I see a lot of non profits raising money for homeless veterans. I also see a lot of social media post about migrants, poor people and homelessness in general. With that said, some people seem to think giving a helping hand to the poor and migrant in general a bad thing and we should, I am guessing the we being the government, should not allow a veteran to be homeless.
In Florida there are approximately 2500 homeless veterans and Florida budget about 28 million to support the military in some way shape or form. It seems this could be a pretty easy fix that we as a state could fix veteran homelessness in short order within a couple of years. Maybe housing in 3 or 4 locations around the State so those who served would/ could have a place to live. Create a program to help them with employment. Provide medical care and services for mental health if needed.
I realize this is way out there as an idea because I have zero knowledge as to its viability, but I will toss it anyway.
Cruise ships? Last year cruise lines were selling their ships to scrap companies for as little as $100 per ton up to $400 per ton.
It could be a quick short or long term solution since they have everything needed to be self sufficient including a medical clinic.
I will repeat my ignorance on how well this could work.

What about military bases? There is space and perhaps housing available or could easily be built. Studio homes? Maybe civilian jobs on the post? (One uncle killed in WW2. Wanted to be a writer. Another didn't survive the horror of war. Lived the rest of his life in a Veterans Hospital from 1944 to 1976. Awful treatments on him. Another could barely keep a job. Died of dementia.) Ellen

Politically speaking, I am confused by what Governor DeSantis is doing when it comes to private businesses. On the one hand he is telling businesses they can come and be free of overbearing regulations. On the other hand he is telling businesses they can't enforce something on their employees. In fairness I am just as confused by those who believe in reproductive choice but not in the choice of whether to get the vaccine or not. Listening to both sides of the issues, mandate or choice, has not clarified the issue for me. I am not going to get in a pissing match about these issues because I have been pretty silent on it for a reason but these narrowly defined issues bother me and find them difficult to reconcile.

The word “enforce” is where the contradiction is in your post.

I should have said “part of where the contradiction lies”. As a private business owner in Florida I’d like to enforce prima nocta but business freedoms don’t extend that far into personal liberties. Your confusion, if such really exists, is simply over another example of pro vax and anti vax. Pro vax thinks the shot is a foregone solution while anti vax disagrees. You know this I imagine but might be looking for contradictions with which to take issue in responses. It’s just a micro version of the macro argument.

A private business should be able to “enforce” a safe, healthy work environment. It should be a “requirement” for business.
Same as above, you know this too. Some disagree as to whether the vaccine promotes a safe work environment. I don’t think y’all are confused as much as trying to argue from a not so different angle.

Some may disagree on many things. I’m arguing from the angle of public health.

Seems some in government might agree with the notion "prima nocta" but I think the courts are pretty consistent with regards to rape. I have followed this from the cruise lines to the current situation with regards to the special legislative session. I have friends on both sides and some even losing their jobs. The Feds are making OSHA as the tip of the spear, so to speak, and even the possibility of financially holding those who receive federal funds for reimbursement for services, ie hospitals and EMS services, for enforcing a vaccine mandate. I remember in the 80s the Reagan Administration was going to with hold Federal Highway funds from Florida because they were not "Enforcing" the 55 speed limit on the interstates. It seems the Governor lost a court ruling when he was trying to interfere with the cruise lines mandating the vaccine for those who work and those paying customers. It still doesn't change my belief that Governor DeSantis is talking out both sides with regards to businesses.
