Thank you sweet girl! I'm glad it was funn for you. I know you were waving from the extreme park on Saturday. We could see the Blue Angels and the F16's from the hospital quite well. (The fireworks too) How did Kate and Will like the airshow and fireworks?

It was an interesting afternoon/evening! We went to a party several blocks away from the "action" (the 800,000 people), so we had our own potty and safe haven! Trying to eat dinner in her courtyard was interesting with fighter jets screaming over our heads- must be like eating a meal in Bagdad, huh? The planes were fantastic to watch though. Walked over to the Extreme Park right as the fireworks were starting- they were spectacular as always! Was your dad able to see anything from his window?

The only bad part of the night was the gang fight that literally blew up on top of us- I was really frightened with our kids right there with us. We don't know what started it, but it was scary to see such young kids (middle/high school) with such an animal mentality and so organized- they all had a job - there were the kids that did the actually butt kicking, then other kids that would fight off anyone trying to get to the kid they were beating up. Then quick as a wink, all of them started running- it was like watching liquid flow around the park the way they moved, and at this point there were hundreds of kids involved. The cops were nowhere (and we called 911 too), and it didn't make the news.:idontno: One of the skater kids told me it was the second fight between the 2 groups that day.:( We were a little shaky after that.

That whole experience made me feel pretty lucky that my kids have such a "normal" boring life.

:( What a bad and scary ending for your evening!

Oh my goodness! I didn't hear anything about that. How scary! Note to self, stay away from Extreme Park. The only time I was there, I felt the urge to lip whip the kids for not wearing protective head gear. I was alwasy terrified someone would smash open his head.

Gangs (or wannabees) are certainly in the project and inner city areas of Louisville. I know when my kids were younger they were cautious about going to downtown or Newburg area with certain colors on. I thought they were being dramatic, but they were smarter than ol mom. I also thought they didn't need to be in some of those areas. thankfully they safely grew up.
You are very blessed with your children, keep them close.

This kind of sounds like our Red White and Boom. It's pretty sad b/c my kids have only see it on tv. We call my hubby Mr. Safety. There's always a shooting of some kind and like 500,000 people in attendance. It's a great show. One year we were invited to a party on top of one of the buildings and that's the way to go.... come early, stay till everyone is gone, then drive home.

Glad you guys are safe. I checked out the website the whole event seems really cool.
