Sometimes, it's not low wages as much as it is hard work. But, you are right, most of the time it is low wages.Smiling JOe said:you forgot a key part to that sentence, "...at those low wages."

One of our elected officials made the comment that we couldn't locate the illegal immigrants in society to deport them. I think when they are at their rally or protest demonstration seems like a good time to find them. Look on CNN, when they are all in one place, scope them up there. They present the proper papers authorizing them to be where there are or they are bused home.
What bothers me is if you feel like you are being mistreated in this country you don't have to stay, you are not a prisoner. The road home may be your best choice and you have the freedom to take it. You have the right to complain, but please do it in your own backyard as you also have the right to return there.
American citizens aren't granted the full rights of citizenship in Mexico that the illegals are demanding here. Our government can't seem to manage something that the Mexican government does with ease.

And if there is interest in deporting them, could y'all please hold off on doing so until after they've finished 'storm-proofing' US 98 between Destin and FWB? Most of the crew working on that looks Hispanic, and the rumor mill here says that only about 10-20% of the Hispanics working construction in the area right now are documented.

Hey Dabell. Come to Kentucky. The migrant workers work very hard here, and get paid low wages for doing so. I get more angry seeing American citizens on the dole because they won't get off their fat asses and get a job. If you can round up enough Americans to show up and do the work that the illegals are doing, then I would agree with you. But Americans set the bar for laziness- and set it high. Good luck getting the bubbas off the couch as replacements for the illegal workers.
I do have mixed feelings on this issue, and it is very complicated. but the simplistic way of lumping them together is nasty and appears ignorant. While I don't think their protest today did much more thatn infuriate the "masses", I think it would be more productive to explore ways to work on this problem rather than run these people down over and over and over. Not productive.
Illegals do pay some taxes - sales taxes.
