BTW, I know way too many peeps in Atlanta, and listen to Atlanta radio stations daily and have yet to hear anyone mention "the ATL."

i admit it. i've been saying The ATL for almost a year now. i have. but now that it's trendy i need to just stop and move on. but what to call it next? A-town: (yawn) Monkeytown: (huh???) Da 404: (so 2003). Hm, how about this...once had an old jazz guy living next door who called the town 'Lan-Jo'. (short for 'lanta jo-gia) Yeah. Lanjo.

Or, you could change it back to Marthasville, named after Gov Lumpkin's daughter, before the Railroad, Atlantica-Pacifica, took over the town and changed it to Atlanta, for short.

Yes, Monkeytown=Montgomery.

It's an old CB radio name for the town. We lived in Spartanburg then. It was called "Sparkle City" in CB talk. BR was "Mamma Cocoa" in those days (Cocoa was my poodle's name).
