My guess is that the numbers are up in all aspects. SoWal's spring break cannot be compared to PCB, imo. Though it is crazy in some places here. seaside is so packed with kids at night it's kind of bizarre.
Here is my thought on this. I have no issues with "spring breakers" here in SoWal. I think to prevent it from reaching the same level as in PCB can be prevented in a couple of ways. 1 ENFORCEMENT, both by those that rent to folks during spring break and law enforcement. Law Enforcement has done their part IMO. Responsible advertising, which, again IMO is done by the TDC. Personally moms and dads rent for their spring breakers here because of their vacations when the breaker was a tot and thought how quaint. I think Hannity is going to be the bigger boost to spring break because the kids are wanting to go to a large party. Look I get folks want to get back their quaint little area, where the traffic isn't bad and we don't have thousands of people here, but as Dana Carvey imitating 1st President George Bush might say "Not gonna happen". We are a tourist attraction, and I think our community has done a fine job stepping up to meet the challenge. We still have some work, bypasses are one and zoning is another just to name two. I don't think we can afford to look back, the future is where its at and as Forrest Gump might say "That's all I got to say about that". Have a good one cause I am going to enjoy the day.

I like what you are saying. Enforcement from all angles is key. Yes, local cops are doing what they can and need to continue and do more.

Local Vacation Rental Companies also hold a large responsibility in enforcement of WHO and how many they rent to. Unfortunately, this is a difficult one to reign in as they (those who rent out short term) are not licensed by the State and anyone can do this do get a quick buck.

We need the community to pressure those companies that don't do a good job to start to tighten up. We don't need condos with "unlimited occupancy" and people turning their owners closets in the bunk bed rooms for kids. Shame on you that do.

If not, its only a matter of time before a place like Seascape or one of the condos in that area have this in the morning:

Love that 11am wakeup call video at PCB holiday Inn Resort!

PCB attempted to crack down this year - the job is too big it seems. Our sheriff's team is doing their job in SoWal. But I think there is much more to do as far as education, awareness, and spring break campaigns about safety, rules, laws, etc.

Many rental owners and vacation rental companies do not rent to college kids during the spring, or any other time. They don't want their property destroyed. These standards have been in place for years. Parents actually rent on their behalf and secure places for their kids.

What's going on in Destin? Haven't seen much.

Many rental property owners do not rent their homes at all during March.

some aren't to bright...I don't rent to college kids are anyone under 25. But, they try sorta, they ask to rent and leave an email like this ( example only ) janedoe@fsu.edu. Nope I'm full....

Whale's Tail in Destin is out of control! Seaside has a new nick name...'Hook up Beach' But, I will have to say we have met the nicest, most respectful college kids on Grayton Beach....I would have them over for dinner!

Out of control? I live approximately one third of a mile from that beach and drive by it once or twice most days what have I missed? If you're talking about Whales Tail food I will agree it's out of control and always has been.

It's just such a shock for me to hear that hormonally supercharged college students might want to have sex with each other when they could harness all that energy to study and contemplate the intricacies of the 30a ecosystem. I'm at a loss for words.

We have decided not to come to our home in SoWal during my spring break due to the craziness there. It's the first time that we've not vacationed there for my spring break in about 20 years.

We stayed at Seaside a few years ago during Spring Break. We don't venture off 30A so I don't know what it was like elsewhere.
It was busy. But we didn't see bad behavior. Just crowded and made it hard to get coffee for one thing at Amavida. Not a big deal.
But there were problems. Several cars were torched while we stayed there. Don't know if they found out who was responsible. One on the street east of Tupelo at the corner of Grove. The other on Forrest, a little further down. Maybe 2011.
Anyway. The water is too cold so that's the main reason we don't come down. Since we aren't there year round, warm water is our number one criteria now. 30A makes it even better.

And that's a shame. The alarmists here are doing no one any favors. Outside of the roving gangs of black thugs raping white girls, the public urination on children, and cars with occupants set ablaze I honestly do not see any difference from previous years.
