Talk Derby to me

New posts
Is Little Dan your pick? What are your Derby plans? I heard that the weather is finally pretty today- hope it continues!

I am so sorry I just failed to answer half this post. Please forgive me. I am working a half day on Oaks day and cooking that afternoon for my Derby party. I'm going to dinner with clients and a party Oaks night.

Derby day I am having a party at my house. Drew will be home so it's a bonus for me. That's it for the plans, no special outfit or hat to worry about. :D

The weather is great today for the parade. I hear we have a chance for rain late Friday PM and maybe into Derby morning. The chances for clearing improve as the day goes on. But hey it's Louisville, who knows what the weather will do:idontno: We are officially ruling out snow, but the rest is a surprise.

I wanna go. I've got the hat!!! Our annual fund raiser for the parks in Pittsburgh is a Hat Luncheon which will be Saturday. I now have a collection of hats, soooo someday before I die I am going to make it to the Derby!!! OL, thanks for the hat tips. Now, I will actually know how to wear my hat!!! You saved me!

Glad I could help!

Beautiful hats! It would be funn to go in and try them all on!

Sounds like a great weekend!!!:clap:Enjoy!

So what would be an appropriate Derby party menu for about 10-15 people, besides Mint Juleps as that is already on the list :)

Beef tenderloin with Henry Bain sauce on small buns (http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=521402),
asparagus, cheese grits, bibb lettuce salad Derby pie (pecan/chocolate pie).

This is the classic menu, but over the years people have "gussied it up" a bit....

You're the best! I knew there would be a "menu."

BTW, I will be back in town May 13-15 if you want to invite me to dinner again :). Yes, I just invited myself but at least I know how to get there ;)

Red Bar is having a Derby Party....Gloves optional, Hats a MUST! Mint:clap: Juleps to be served as well as the singing of My Old Kentucky Home....think the time is 4:30 until....Race will be around 5:00 pm...

Oh I so wish I could be there! Y'all go and have a few mint juleps for me!

I forgot...

Dennis of Cork (jockey is in pink) That is my pick.

Mine too, I love the name and the color of course!

In a former life we never missed The Kentucky Derby from about 1988 to 2000. Of course it was right up my alley....another reason to dress for a party....and what a party! If you all ever get a chance.....go!

I found my hat for this year:
